Polls not counted as "New Post"

I've just noticed on my board that if someone posts a poll it doesn't get counted on the new posts,but only shows up as a new thread.

This is what i see in the Welcome Panel.

"There have been 0 posts in 1 threads since your last visit!"

Is there a fix for this so that a poll is counted as a new post.

This is an option in the control panel. No hack required.
