2.2.9 is still not in the drop down menu when posting hacks.

Also, 2.3.0 RC was just released today, and it would be good to have that there ;).

But, please do not remove 2.2.8/2.2.9 from the drop down ;).

Another question I have is, is the vB2 hack forum going to be closed after a few months of vB3 being out? I hope it isn't...

AFAIK the vb2 hacking forum won't be closed when vb3 comes out.

it would be closed as it happend to the vb1 hacking forums, when there are not enough admins who use vb2 anymore.. :)

When did the vB1 forum get closed? How many months after vB2's release?

hmm good question...
i have no idea, it was very close, the majority used vb2 very soon...
no more hacks for vb1 were created..

This worries me greatly, I'm going to end up like flashkit was before, still using an old version ;) as I've made over 200 different modifications to templates and files on my vB, I just don't want to upgrade!

it's like always in economy.

as long as there is a market for vb2 hacks and also hackers who write the hacks it would be open :)

but i know that a great part of the hackers will upgrade (like me for example) and so we won't write a vb2 hack anymore of course.

I've decided to upgrade to vb3 when it's released. Not straight away though. I don't think converting the style should be too difficult :)

I have huge issues with converting to vB3 when it's released. I'd like to, but I installed too many hacks, simply way too many. It will be a big decision to upgrade, and this gives me an idea, I'll post a poll on my forum, and see what the members think ;).

To keep up to date with 2.2.x releases, I'd preface each and every addition to your PHP files with
//HACKSTART -name of hack-
and then
//HACKSTOP -name of hack-

Also use Beyond Compare or some other tool to do the comparisons.

As for vB3, I'm totally there man. It is SO fast. The redirect screens are GONE and so many other improvements.

Hacking should be easier with the way templates are working now. You can do if statements in the templates! :)

I do that too. It takes an extra few seconds but it's so useful when it comes to upgrading :)

Upgrading is easy when you do the hackstart/stop and use a comparing program. Just keep track of what files you have edited and what hacks you have installed and it's quite easy.

But yes, vb3 converting will take a bit of work but I haven't installed many hacks (Just portal and quick reply) so I'll do fine. :p

I was gonna wait with 2.3.0 until the final version is released, but... :)
