I have a main part of my site where I would like to show hot or recnt posts/topics.

Is there someway to do this easily?

I am really new at this so if you could tell me like you were telling a two year old, that would be good.

There are various hacks around here which enable yoou to show the last x posts on miscallenous places on your site. Do a search and you'll find the right one for you :)

I tried but could not find out how to do any of them. Is this something that a programmer should do.

I know squat when it comes to html and that kind of stuff.
