News Hacks!

Hey everyone,
My programmer has been working on our website lately and we have come to a problem. We are trying to figure out a way for registered site members to post news that would then be featured on the homepage of the site.

Are there any scripts he can use to do this effectively? Hacks or whatever you call them?

We are in a timecrunch right now so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ultimately, we plan to have 3 different profile types for members. Models, Bands and regular members. The Models and bands would each have their own news box on the main page of the site. If any model and or band posts news regarding their art/work etc, we would like it posted to the homepage in it's own table.

Help?!
