HACK: Easier Adding of Multiple Smilies in AP (title & text-to-replace automatically filled-in)
BY: KuraFire [www.kurafire.com]
SUGGESTED BY: Xiphoid [creations.nl]
DESCRIPTION: Will automatically (optional) insert the smilie filenames in the Title and Text-to-replace fields when you add multiple smilies at once
DIFFICULTY: Easiest
INSTALL-TIME: 5 minutes
STEPS: 7

EXTENDED DESCRIPTION:
If you ever added like 20 to 50 smilies to your vB at once, you probably wished you could've just told the system to take the filenames as default Title as well as Text-to-replace, so that you wouldn't have had to insert them all manually, one by one. Well, with this hack you can! It gives you the option (defaulted to yes) to tell the script to take the filename, minus the .ext of course, and use that value (stripped from any non-alphabetical or numerical characters) for the Title field (where it will be ucfirst()'d, by the way) as well as the Text-to-replace field (with :'s surrounding the value). It's far more simple if you just see it work, of course :)

NOTE: you have to download the newest file attachment (from 3:10 PM CET!) if you want it to work on multiple pages. It became 7 steps (instead of 4), and take good notice of step 2 if you're 'upgrading' from the first release!

CURRENT ATTACHMENT CONTAINS THE INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE IT WORK WITH PAGINATION AS WELL! :)

Instructions are in the attachment :)

Hi there,

Thank you for making my suggestion into a hack. You did a great job. The hack works perfectly.

I source code hacked the .php file and uploaded it, chmod 777 the smilies directory and uploaded the smilies that I wanted to add. (200+ smilies) and went to the back-end, 'add' smilies > multiple, set it to do 100 at once, and clicked master checkbox to select them all. Pressed submit, and repeated this untill all 200+ smilies were processed. I was done within 5 minutes (including installing the hack).

It is a great addition, and for some reason I hope this will be default feature for all upload options, like smilies and avatars, in upcomming version of vbulletin!

[update]
I installed the hack on 5 vbulletin boards, 2.2.7 / 2.2.8 / 2.2.9 versions, hacked and unhacked, and all worked 100% - Thank you :)

A brilliant idea! It was soo painful before adding smilies at once!

Nice one

Mist: I always refer to the Admin Panel with AP, though... :)

(what could it really be if not Admin Panel, anyway?)

thx guys, figured you'd like it ^_~

in version 3 of vBulletin it will be called forum/admincp and forum/modcp :)

Hum, I can't seem to get it working. I've got the smilie.php hacked but when I load the page in my control panel, there are text boxes instead of checkboxes and the names and titles aren't being populated. Any ideas where to go in code to fix it?

Also, I 777'd the smilies and the sub-folder.
