Hey, has anybody else ever had .gif files stop playing completely on websites? I can open them from my hard drive into IE and they play fine, but on forums the smilies are all froze (the animated ones), and so is everything else on the web. Frozen for some reason that I have yet to find out. I have reset file type associations and that didn't seem to do the trick. I am close to just saying screw it and reinstalling windows unless somebody has any ideas?? PLEASE HELP! I have been trying to fix this problem for weeks... :( The same gif files work fine when opened on my other computer so why not this one? This is a very annoying problem. Any suggestions? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! THANKS! :ermm:

ya, happened to me.... ill tell ya what to do...

Step 1 >> In internet explorer, go to the top bar and click "Tools" and then go down to Internet options *all the way at the bottom*

Step 2 >> In internet properties go to the far right tab " Advanced" and click it

Step 3 >> In advanced, go down to "Multimedia" and click the circle that says - "Play animations in web pages"

... now if this doesnt work then i dunno....

lol! Well I WILL do that if I have to. It wouldn't be too much trouble because I have two PC's networked together like 2 feet apart, so I could just move all the files I need from one to the other, but there has to be an easier way me thinks...

Has this ever happened to anyone else here? If not I'll just say screw it and do an fdisk on the whole thing.. lol

This is JUST a javascript error. No need for reformatting.

Do you use a firewall or antivirus who blocks scripts perhaps?

Well, clicking any link on a page with animated GIFs will cause Internet Explorer to stop animating all GIFs on that page. That's why when you use the smilie-insert buttons, all the smilies stop animating. There is a way to fix it (Here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34808)) or you can use layering to place one cell over top of all your animated GIFs that are buttons, so that it's the cell that gets clicked, not the GIF. That should also let them keep animating.... But it would be a lot of work to make every link on your boards have a cell over top of it to prevent GIF stoppage...
