I'm attempting to install a hack that requires 2.2.6 and I'm running 2.2.5. Does anyone have a virgin copy of 2.2.6 search.php they could email me?
if so, pls email to (zipped if possible)
thanks in advance.

You should try installing the hack on 2.2.5 first.
If it doesn't work, there's not really any way you will get 2.2.6.
None of us are to know if your board is legit or not, so the only thing you could do is download 2.2.9 at the moment from the members area, sorry.

i'd upgrade to 2.2.9
also as Davey said most of the time 2.2.6 hacks also work for 2.2.5.
No one would send you the file, but you can write an email to vbulletin.com and ask there...

I contacted vb through the "members only" section about this module.
I've looked at the code. it will break more than it corrects if appiled to 2.2.5.
and besides...that's not the way I (or most professional developers) work "make the code changes and see of they work" (laughing....definately 'NOT ME')
ps: IMHO anyone that takes the time to upgrade a highly hacked forum to 2.2.9 with the 3.0 release imminent needs to have their head examined.

Well if you're a professional developer, you'd have a backup copy available and you'd also probably have a local server to test scripts on.
When you install hacks, you don't honestly install them straight onto the server do you!?
Try installing it on a copy of your vBulletin which is local and which no-body else can access, and if it goes wrong, all you've lost is 15 minutes or so...

Davey...did you take the time to actually read my post?
I don't need a virgin copy because I nuked mine, I requested a virgin copy of 2.2.6 search.php - that's all
ps: there is no use in trying even on my test server...because just as my post said: it would break more than it fixes....the code "walk through" yielded that.

I think a Administrator who doesn't upgrade to the most secure Version of a software because of his lazyness needs his head examined!
We all have hacked boards here and we also upgrade and it's not so hard at all, it's just lazy if you don't.

care to elaborate on the security risks of the software we purchased and why the software was released without adequate testing that would have revealed those security risks to begin with?

The software was tested very good, but every software has bugs.
If you know a bit about software development you woulnd ask such questions....
As said, ask over at vbulletin.com for the file.
