Adjust view count of split thread

After splitting a thread, (moving a post within a thread to a new thread), the new thread also has the same post view count as it's parent thread.
For example if the parent thread had 300 views, the post that I split into a new thread shows that it has also had 300 views.

Q. Is it possible to adjust this to reflect the actual views the new thread has received?

The update counters didn't fix it.

well, how would you know how much views the posts in the new thread have had and how much the old have had?
