View Full Version : Logging IP addresses for Log ins???

We are having a problem with a few members who have private forum access sharing their usernames & passwords in order to let others access their accounts.
I would LOVE to see a way to save the IP addresses of a user into their IP history each time they log in (as opposed to just when they post), and if possible, to have a feature added to be able to list all users who have logged in with multiple IPs within a specified period (i.e. one day, 12 hour, 6 hour, 3 hour, 1 hour)
I think this would really help us to be able to track users who are sharing their access.

If they don't post then you'll need a hack but if they do vB already has an IP logging feature; you can also look at Apache's access log.

that was kind of the reason for the hack request :)
I want an easy way to check out those who are logging in, but NOT posting (as well as those who are).
Apache logs are long, messy, and most importantly, my staff can't view them unless i grant them access on my server, which ain't happening.

We've got a few (quiet) users sharing accounts on our board..... even giving a banned member access to our private forums. If anyone knows how we can track/monitor access by IP address, we'd sure like to have this capability.
Please post here or PM me?
Thanks!

This is similiar:

I think it can be tweaked to log all logins instead of failed ones too.

That works great for vB 2.3.0 but not for version 2.3.2
The first edit line in the member.php is not there in the newer version, the fail login thread is also closed for new posts, I am not sure why? Is there a problem with what he has done in that thread?
