I am looking into running VBPortal and VBulletin, replacing Postnuke 0.7.1.3 as our corporate intranet.

I really like VBulletin both front and back end and a lot of the hacks on here will be v. useful (eg/ file attachments hacks, archive hacks etc).

My question is - has anyone else used this for their intranet?

And my hack query is - is there any form of organizational / organisational chart hack out there? IF not, is it easy to pull the avatars for each user out of the database + add a hack to make the profile > location a drop down only choice? (thus making php queries and page display possible?)

Many thanks

ps - that smilie rules :)

VB will work fine for an intranet.

VB3 (january or so) will provide support for drop down custom profile fields (such as location) automatically out of the box.

thats good, will hopefully be making the official switch after xmas, is vb3 a pay for upgrade? if so, may as well wait till then.

Also, do you happen to know of anywhere were I can read a full run down on 'changes' and updates that will be in VB3?

much appreciated + thanks for the reply.

If you get vB2 before vB3 is released then it will be a free upgrade provided is released within a year, which it will be :) If not then I *think* the price will be staying the same, however thats not the official answer ;)

Take a look over at http://www.vbulletin.com/forum There using vB3, note thats not the final style for vB3.
