change the number of smilies per page

can there be a way to narrow it down to a # of pages that show so dialup users can see em all too? Like Smilies Page 1, 2, 3 etc?

I have loads of smilies and some are animated which means that my server simply cannot handle loading them all onto one page.

Does anyone know how to make this hack?

In fact how about making a full hack for this , since everyone uses smilies.

I was thinking that you could offer the smilies to be displayed ramdomly and an option to choose which smilies were displayed in the Post page in an admin area.

Also would be a setting in the admin area to decide how many smilies would appear on that Get More smilies page before seperating the pages.

For example: If you had 400 smilies
You choose to display them ramdomly and to set a limit to 50 smilies per page.

This would give you 8 pages displaying ramdom smilies - rather than 400 on one page in the same order.

This would be a good hack to have.

Does anyone know of a hack like this or know how to go about making one?

There are hacks out already to make random smilies, to categorize smilies etc. - do a search for them in the database or in Full Releases.

I searched for over 3 hours in both the forums and the database.

There is only a hack to make the smillies random.

Thats cool but what i really need is a way to split the pages when my users are clicking Get More on the smilie box.

I have been unable to find a hack for this - which is surprising becauuse lots of people would find it usefull.

I have lots of smilies and a lot of animated smilies and having them all on one page is too much stress for the server - the result is many just dont show up.

Its a shame but unless i can find a hack i will have to reduce the number of smilies on my board. I just spent two days uploading them and settting them up and was really looking forward to extra variety in threads.

I would even pay for this kind of hack but i dont have too much money, budget is low. Besides i dont know anyone who is offering to do a hack for payment.

Well it looks like a tricky hack but atleast i can do what i want although it still isnt as good as the way i described it working - perhaps vb should think about integrating it in the next release.

Incidently how did you find it? I have looked for hours - what search did you perform and where?
Perhaps i need to sharpen up on my search skills.
