Alright, i'm the guy who was having trouble with the HP/MA/PP/AP stats. All the bars and numbers(with the exception of the EXP) were not going anywhere. They all stayed at 0/0. I found out that you have to click 'Update Stats' found in the UserCP to actually get it displaying numbers and also for the bars to fill up. The problem with this is that the numbers and bars will stay the same until you hit 'Update Stats' again. They all stay at something like 90/90 or 36/36 even after you make new posts and replies. The EXP works just fine though.
I was wondering if you planned on fixing this in the next version so it would update the stats and also the MaxHP, maxAp, maxMA, and maxPP automatically after each post??

The update stats link is getting removed from the next version. It is going to be more streamlined. Updating the stats after each post would be a little excessive, in my opinion, because your stats only change when you gain a level. Otherwise, they stay the same. My user's have found it just as easy to update their stats when they gain a new level, since that doesn't occur very often at levels above 10. I think you like the way version 0.56 handles the update stats link.

Version 0.56 is complete. There is no upgrade file for it.
Bugs Fixed:
Fixed negative donation steals user's money bug.
Fixed users can change their class and still use class-specific weapons bug.
Fixed many typos and template inconsistencies in the battle templates (nearly all templates were changed).
Fixed the reapeat the battle attack by refreshing the battle screen after attacking bug.
Fixed the incorrect alignment display in the postbit when moving races from one alignment to another bug.
Any other bug that I have previously mentioned as being fixed in this thread plus many other minor ones.
New features:
A PM is now sent to the recipient of monetary donations saying how much was donated and who donated it. Users can also donate anonymously.
In the "Edit Items" menu of the admin cp, you can now manually set the stock of each item.
A healing center has been added. TO go to the healing center, use http://www.yourdomain.com/vBulletin/heal.php as the link (replacing "yourdomain" and "vBulletin" with the appropriate values). At the healing center, user's can pay to revive themselves or do partial healings after battles. They can also replenish their MA. If a user is in battle, does not have enough money, or has full HP/MA, then they cannot use the healing center.
Items now have a level associated with them. You can specify whether or not you want item levels hidden from users. If hidden, then a user whose level is below that of the weapon will not be able to see or know that the weapon exists, unless someone else already has the weapon. In which case they will only be able to see it in the postbit or battle fight screen. They will not know the level requirement for it.
A battle statistics page has been added. You can list the Top 10 (or Bottom 10) user's with the most (or least) battles fought, battles won, battles lost, battle draws, and retreats. Click on the headings to switch the order around. You can also display a user's battle statistics in the postbit.
On the update profile page, there is now a checkbox to update your stats, instead of the customary link to a pop-up menu.
You can now specify an auto-refresh time in the admin cp to control how often the battle fight screen refreshes. Calculated in seconds.
Any other feature I have previously mentioned in this thread.
A quirk with the new checkbox to update stats in the modify profile screen is that when you check the box and click the submit button, a lot of variables are output to the screen. This is temporary output for beta testing purposes and will not be displayed in the final version.
The new .zip file is located in the original post.
To install this version, re-install vBulletin, re-upload/overwrite the files included in the .zip, and re-apply the hack (using install.txt as a guide). This version does not have an upgrade file.

As far as skill trees go, there are none. The user has several attacks available including attack spells, normal attacks, and "anger-motivated" attacks, which deal at least 10% extra damage. Previous versions of the RPG Class Hack had something called "limit breaks", which were special attacks. These were taken out in my hack because there was no easy way to integrate them while still providing some sort of functionality to the users.

If you PM me that line of code from functions.php then I can look at it. However, I am not getting that error in funtions.php, so I am not too sure about what is causing it. Based on the line numbers given, it does not appear that the erroneous code is coming from my hack, although I could be wrong.

I get an error when trying to open itemshop.php

Are you on a free/shared server? Did you try re-uploading battlefight.php? The cause of that error is the user item loop. I have never had that error on my forums, but a temporary fix is to do the following (I think):
In battlefight.php, find twice:
while ($count <= $totalcats[0]) {
and BELOW it, add:
if($count > 50)
break;
There are two places you need to do this. They should be right after one another and should look very similar.
Let me know if that helps.

Something did not go right when you ran install_itemshop_items.php. Either that, or you have not properly filled in the point field name in the "Edit Itemshop Options" menu in the admin cp. To figure out what went wrong, in the admin cp go to the modify user profile fields screen and check for a field called Points. If there is not a field called points, then create a new one called "points" and make it hidden to the user, not required, and not editable. After adding it, use the following instructions to get it working:

Oka that fixed the itemshop and heal problem.
Me and my friend decided to battle and when we were on the battle I was going first and i did not have anything so i had to attack with my bare fists and when i clicked attack an error showed up so i reinstalled the hack about 3 times after that and it still shows that im in battle.
I even deleted the battle entries from the sql databas and its still the same =/

You battle status is based on a field in the `user` table called 'inbattle'. To participate in battles again, change it's value back to 0. You can do this in phpmyadmin by going to the `user` table, browsing till you find your name and your opponents name, and changing the 'inbattle' field to 0.

I am not too sure about that error. It might have something to do with your hosts settings. I also notcied that you just installed this hack or another version of it on top of a previous version of it. You have duplicates in you itemshop and your postbit item loop is timing out, indicated by the "Timeout 200" message in the postbits. You would be better off removing the hack and re-applying it on a TEST board, since a test board is easy to delete and re-install.

Seriously though, you have several options:
1. If you want to upgrade to the new version, then get Beyond Compare 2 from www.scootersoftware.com. Then, open up the two install files side-by-side (the ones ending with .hack from version 0.55 and 0.56) and make the necessary changes based on the differences in the two files.
2. If you want to uninstall and re-apply, then replace all of your hacked files with the backup files you were supposed to make when you installed the hack the first time. Then, go in to your database and remove tables that begin with "battle", "items", or "rpg". Next, remove any profile fields you (or the hack) added. Next, delete all templates in your template table that begin with "battle", "itemshop", or "rpg_". Last, remove the added fields from the template "modifyprofile" that were added by the hack. You should then be set to re-apply the hack!
Easy as that!

It is very easy to use the beyond compare methods, since that is how I make the previous upgrade files.
There is no update file because it takes me 2 hours+ to make one. From the warnings section:
Do not install this hack on a production board. Please keep this hack, while in the BETA stage, to a test board. The reason for not installing this on a production board is that I cannot provide upgrade instructions for going from one version of the beta hack to the next version of the beta hack. Also, this hack does not have an un-install script yet. So please remember, if you decide to install this on a production board, you are doing so at your own risk.
Also, it is very hard to test the update file because I have to actually do it, which takes another 45 minutes to an hour based on the number of changes. This particular update has an unusually large number of changes because of all the new features I added.
There is no uninstall script because each uninstall script would have to be different depending on which version you installed. Each version of the un-install script would then need to be tested and re-tested to make sure that it took out everything and worked fine. This takes a long time.
So, economically speaking, it is more productive to work on adding more features for the next version rather than working on an upgrade/un-install script for the current version, as implied in the warnings section. Also, just because I have not made an upgrade script for this version yet, it does not mean I won't do so in the future. It just takes so long to do that I would rather let the Test board people have a go at it before I waste 3 hours making an upgrade file.
This rule does not apply to the final release. If I find a need to update the final release, then upgrade instructions will ALWAYS be included as well as an uninstall script.

An easy fix is to comment out the code. Put "/*" before the loop code and "*/" after the loop code. If this doesn't fix the problem, then there is something seriously wrong.

Where you can change the amount of gold users start with or the amount of gold they get per post ?
I deleted the whole hack like u told me and reinstalled it and now everything works fine along with the battle, itemshop and heal station.

Gold per post is in the Itemshop Options menu in a field called "Activity Points". Currently, there is no way to give users a certain amount of gold to begin with. However, you can add that feature in several ways. The easiest way to add it is through phpmyadmin. In the table called `items_user` locate the field called 'bankval'. Change the default value of 'bankval' to whatever you want the users to start with. The other ways are harder to implement.

i accidentally deleted ALL of my Template tables through phpMyAdmin...uhh...how do I get them back?? I have a back up but just have no idea on how to restore it...obviously i absolutely know nothing about mysql and stuff, so can someone tell me how to restore it?

Have you tried the "Insert data from a textfile into table" link in phpmyadmin? It is near the middle of the page when you are viewing the table structure.

ok i restored it using the vbulletin.style
but anyway, i've installed .56 using vbhacker, and i had to run some queries. Anyway, i get this error when i try to go to a forum:

Can I ask you a question about Battle Forums, I notice that I can only buy one Weapon, One Potion, and One Armor, If I try to but a 2nd Weapon it takes the first weapon out of my inventory. Is that correct you can only have one of each

I have set the level to be determined by the # of posts, but the level won't show up. Because of this, no one can battle.
Also, the purchased items don't show up, and there are no hp/mp/ap etc bars in the profile, are there supposed to be?

the items purchased do not show up on itemshop.php, where I assume they should.

I did update my stats, error message is stillL: You are ineligible for battle at this time. Please try updating your stats in the User Control Panel.
Also, do you know how to :
-upgrade vb w/out losing installed hacks?
-make rpg points same as lesane store hack points?

The level is supposed to show up in the postbit, not in the user profile.
The bars are also supposed to be in the postbit.
I noticed that you overwrote the "Unknown" Alignment with something else. This means that if you use that alignment, then you won't be able to particiate in battles because you must have an alignment other than the original Unknown.
Also, did you run "install_itemshop_items.php"? It seems that you did not run it or you did not go through it all the way because there are only two users in your 'battle_stats' database, when there are supposed to be around 71.
There is a stickied thread in the "Hacking Hints and Tips" forum called Tutorial: Upgrade your hacked board in less then 30 minutes (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38545). Try that.
I do know how to make the Lesane Store hack integrated with this hack, however I do not have instructions on how to do that at this time.

When i buy the items in the itemshop and then battle somebody they do not showup while in battle the only thing to use is fists and that does not work out really well.

This is looking great, Bitsys! I'd be more than happy to help you test it, but I only have a large scale (250,000 posts, several thousand members, very active) forum in a production environment, though I know its participants would be very eager to try out this phenomenal hack.
Have you considered creating an un-install file for the hack, or any other necessary precautions, so that it can start being tested on production environments in beta?

The postbit refers to the postbit template. There is a template group called "Postbit Templates". When I refer to the "postbit template" I am talking about the template that is actually called "postbit" and is the first template located under the "Postbit Templates" group, in your global and/or default template set.
I cannot post instructions for integration with Lesane's store hack becuase my hack keeps getting minor changes that make in unfeasible to be updating two hacks. Also, there are changes that must be made to 5+ .php files, so it is more than a simple job. However, once my hack gets closer to release (I am writing the help documentation right now, after which I need to test the uninstall script) I will work on integrating it into Lesane's Store hack and then releasing that as a completely separate version. I cannot promise anything right now though.

Okay, by now, I'm probably boring you all out of your minds with obvious questions, but I've got another one:
When I deposit money in the bank, it takes the money, but doesn't put it in the bank, it just makes it dissappear.
I understand what you're saying about the integration with the store hack, but could you just post an overview?
In addition, I think I read something about upgrading to newer versions of your hack... is it manual, or can u upgrade with vbhacker?

I can't post an overview right now, sorry.
Upgrading from one version of the beta to another is manual. However, 0.56 was the last major update. I don't anticipate any future ones to be very hard to upgrade.
BTW, here is a guide that DarkDraco07 created for the members of his forum. Thanks DarkDraco07!
-Start off by going to your User Control Panel. Then edit your profile. At the bottom of your profile there is a bunch of RPG settings such as your RPG chars name, gender, alignment, class, etc... Once u have finished this you click the update stats link. (Note: you will have to update your settings every time you level up). Also, when selecting your RPG options from the user cp, you must submit the options first, then go back to the edit profile menu and click the update stats link
-Now you go to the ItemShop. Purchase any item you wish. (Note: The Generic Items can be used by anyone, but all the rest of the items you can buy are based on your charector type) If your a warrior or whatever, you can purchase heavy armor and sword, if your a mage u can purchase spells and so forth. When you buy a potion, it can be used only once. Dont forget to update stats*
-When you are ready for battle you go to the Battle page. Click on new battle. Enter the game name and password and the person you want to fight. When you have finished this there will be a PM sent to the person you challenged telling him the game number and password. Once the opponent has agreed to fight, go back to the battle page and enter the game info and password, or if u want you can click on browse to view all the battles going on and click view on your battle to enter the battle (other people may watch)
-The the battle begins. The are option buttons (radio buttons) with the attacks you can use. All the greyed out attacks mean you dont have that. There will be attack with your weapon, use your fists, use a spell, use a potion, an option to give up and retreat. Pick one, enter a text message in the box if you want and click submit. For everytime that you miss, your AP (anger points) will rise. When your AP reaches 70-99, a check box will appear that says "are you angry yet?". This is the anger attack. Based on how much AP you have, you do more damage. (ex. if you have 80AP then if u check the anger box you will do 8% more damage). Then your AP drops to 0. If you have 100AP you will automatically do 10% more damage. Also if you are level 10+, you will do.1 more damage than you usually will.
-As many know these, ill say them again:
+HP(Hit Points) is your life, when it reaches 0, your dead.
+MA(Mystic Aura) is your magic, when it reaches 0, you cant use magic.
+PP(Power Points) is your power, it doesnt do anything yet.
+AP(Anger Points) is your anger, When it reaches 70-100 you do more damage.
(Note: after a battle, if you have died or lost MA, a moderator or admin has to refill your HP and MA)". Another way you can refill your HP is to make enough posts to gain a new level and then update your stats. When you update your stats after gaining a level, your stats are automatically refilled.)
-Also, all battles will be recorded under a new forum section. Thus giving you EXP for fighting.
So far that is how you battle.

For some reason, I don't think your items_user database was correctly populated. If you have phpmyadmin, go into it and make sure that there is one row for each user on your site. Also, make sure that the battle_stats database is populated in the same way as the items_user database.

I have 3 more problems:
I have 2 users I user, admin and user1.
admin can buy items. user1 cant - even though there is enough money.
admin cannot use items in battle.
The 3rd problem is there are some broken itemshop images.

This means you have the column "item1" already inside your database. Meaning you have Itemshop already installed.
Delete the column, and any other columns that Itemshop created to get it to work.

Gengar is helping to test it on a previous version and if all had gone correctly with the installation queries, then I think it would do fine on 2.2.6 or maybe 2.2.5. This is what beta is for.

I have an idea for a the item shop. Is there any way to make "special" weapons? Meaning, if I used a Lightning type weapon on a person that was a Water elemental, it would cause more damage to that specific element? Other examples would include if I used a Fire-type armor and my enemy tried to use the Flame sword on me, I would be impervious since its the same element. Catch my drift? I think it would be a good feature to have...but might be a bit complicated. Just a thought =)

The problem with this is that not all of the images are facing the incorrect direction. In order for this to work perfectly, you would have to specify which way the image is facing for each image and then do the appropriate mirror image if it is facing in the wrong direction. If all goes well, version 0.57 will be the last version before release.

So when you do it, it takes mana,(or you can only do it when your AP is 100%) and it add's like 5% damage. You can make and edit moves from the admin cp. It shouldnt be to hard to put in i think.

If I were to add special moves, I would be more inclined to make them take away from PP rather than from MA. Also, it would make sense to make a training school of sorts in which only certain classes or races could learn certain techniques. But, I have no plans to include that in the final version.

Bug Fixes:
Instead of displaying the battle screen when users are not logged in, it displays the show no permission page. Also, COPPA or Users Awaiting E-mail Confirmation cannot use the battle hack.
Typos
Inifite loop in postbit when the items_user database is incorrect or not correctly populated.
Pressing back and re-submitting a battle reply no longer leaves a blank message when the battle state is greater than 4 (over or in draw stage).
Reduced itemshop query count by one.
Point Field in Itemshop options is now 8 characters long, instead of 6.
New Feature:
In the admin cp, under the RPG heading, there is now a link called "Edit Users". After clicking the link, you are taken to a simple search page in which you enter the username and/or the userid you wish to edit. Once there, you can edit the major RPG settings for any user, including Max and Current stats as well as alignment, race, class, battle stats, etc. See the picture attached to this post for more information.
Included in this version is an upgrade file for going from .56 to .57. It is 3 steps long and should take around 7 minutes.
Also included in this version is a short text file for Herman that can be used in battlefight.php to reverse the direction of images. The file is called "Flip Code.txt".NOTE: The code in that file has NOT been tested nor is the code mine. It is primarily for Herman, since he asked for it and anyone else who would like to experiment with it. Use at your own risk.
If all goes well with this version, then I will finish the uninstall file and release the final version soon after. Thanks again for testing :)

Here is the formula for how much MA spells use when cast:

I'm not sure if this normal or not, but my enemy used the Mage Masher on me and the damage/defense/buff was set to 20. The thing is when it hit me it took away 3055 HP from me. I only had 1000 HP so I died instantly(I used the new 'Edit User' option in v57 to edit our rpg stats and changed them to really high numbers).....so uhhh is that supposed to be rright? Does the weapon multiply with the PP or something?? Or maybe the AP? Can someone please explain this?
And Bitsy's, thanks for making it possible to upgrade this time. It was SO convenient. When you made v56, it was such a pain for me. So thank you for that and hopefully you provide some sort of upgrade for the next version
I have a question though. You know how you're able to edit user's stats through the AdminCP? Well I saw you made a note about it not making it permanent, and also that it will change after you 'Update Stats' in the UserCP. Are you planning on fixing this to make those Edits in the AdminCP permanent?

$weapon[damage] = the 'buff' of the weapon that determines how much damage it does.
$uregatt = The attacker's regular attack
$anger = the anger percentage (1 if the user is not angry, 1.1 if the user is at 100% AP)
$bonusattack = The amount of bonus damage given to the attacker by "persistent modifier" items. Persistent Modifier items are any items that give + to Att, + to Def, or + to Att and Def in the item's category. On my board, we made Ring items always give to attack.
$armor = the defender's total armor, including + to Def items.
$oregdef = the defender's regular defense
$uspeed = the attacker's speed
$damagedone = the total damage done to the defender by the attacker.
This formula will change. I will take out speed and use that and evade for calculating the chance to hit. Currently, chance to hit is 9 out of 10 times and is statically defined.
Here is how the damage is calculated based on the spell:
$damagedone = $spell[damage] + $umagicatt - $omagicdef;
Where:
$spell[damage] = the 'buff' or damage assigned to that spell.
$umagicatt = the attacker's magic attack
$omagicdef = the defender's magic defense
$damagedone = the total damage done by the spell to the defender by the attacker
Armor is not taken in to account when spells are used. From the first formula, you can see how armor is affected.

The reason you can buy items when you are in battle is because this is a beta and people often forget to buy weapons before they go in to battle. To make it easier, I allowed people to buy items while in battle tot test potions etc. In the final version, you will not be allowed to buy items while in battle.

Letting the buyer see the buff column allows them the ability to make a choice as to know as to which items do more damage than others. You can modify the itemshop top, middle, and bottom templates to remove the buff column, if you wish.
The problem with using the user's RPG name instead of username is that rpg names do not have to be unique. If it is not unique, then I have to make a page where the user can select which opponent they mean to fight. This seemed rather impratical when I can just use the username.

The reason I was asking about the rpg name is because I'm running a board where the user identity is kept seperate from the rpg identity so any idea you have as to how I can edit it to use the rpg name instead of the username would be helpful =)

I have a small suggestion which I believe is quite easy to do for someone with a little vb experience:
Instead of making all the stats go in the postbit, make a pop-up window showing all the stats that you want. Something that will look like this in your postbit:
Posts: 500
Level: 120 [view stats] <--- opens up a new window with all stats
It will make it easier than just making your postbit 20 extra lines trying to show all the user stats in each post ;)

When I release the profile add-on that allows a user's RPG stuff to be displayed in the member profile, then that code can be easily converted into a .php page that generates the necessary variables for the pop-up you are thinking of. Also, the variables do not necessarily have to be put in the postbit template. If you wanted to, you could display them in their own table below the actual post. I have seen this successfully done in several forums and I like that style of layout also. It is entirely up to you. If you want the pop-up though, I will work on that after I finish the member profile code.

Here is the member profile add-on. It allows you to display all of the RPG stats, Itemshop stats, and Battle stats in a member's profile. It involves one file edit.
Let me know if you have any problems with it or if some variables aren't working. I tested this on my board and everything worked.
As an add-on, it requires that you have the RPG Integration Hack installed.

Something terrible happened. After I upgraded from .56 to .57, all of my members, including me, lost all of their bank deposits, plus anytime they make a deposit, they can't withdraw it, and there's just a blank space next to "Bank Deposit:" in the Bank menu.
EDIT: Bank deposits are not lost, as they show up in the Admin CP, but people still can't make withdrawals and their deposit doesn't show up in the Bank.
EDIT AGAIN: I uploaded the previous itemshop.php file (from v.56) and it works, so something is wrong with the itemshop.php from v.57. Hope that helps narrow it down.

Someone pointed that out the other day. I have gone through battleupdate.php and hopefully found every occurance of a gender specific word and replaced it with a variable that inserts the correct word. An updated battleupdate.php will be included in the next release.
Speaking of the next release, it will have a new feature. In the admin cp, you will be able to add different backgrounds for the battle arena. Then, when the user creates a battle, they can select which background they want.

I have been doing it all day - installing the hack, then uninstalling it, etc. I have done it about 10 times in a row and it works great! Hey, I was about to suggest the background thing next, lol, anwayzy, thats good you already thought of it. Also, I flipped all the character images, males and females. So now they are facing each other. If you want I can tell you what to do and give you all the images..

The bug i found is, the Personal Itemshop doesn't work, you can't buy from a personal itemshop, you can't sell from a personal itemshop. nothing.. but you can create the person Itemshop.

Three suggestions, in the next realse, can you make this addon, that when 2 members are battling, On online.php it says, In Battle. Second suggestion is, if you can think about the Clan addon i told you about, where ppl can make there battle clans aproved by admins, and other members can join, there clan info is displayed on their user profile. Third suggestion, can you please make the fists work -_-, i asked this before, you could make it the lowest attack or whatever, just make it work, and sometimes it should miss also.
If you can take these suggestions under consideration, and make them I would be so GLAD, and let me know if you need help with anything. I am here, also sry about the double posting -_-.

I have not tested the script on hacked an extremely hacked board. However, if the install script runs flawlessly, and you do not edit any of the RPG code that is inserted, then the uninstall will also work flawlessly. Either way, if it can't undo the changes to the .php files, then you can always re-upload the saved files, or do it manually. The database queries will always remove the appropriate tables from the database.

That bug was caused by a bug I fixed. In previous versions, you could "create" the buy item URL from scratch if you knew certain characteristics of the item you wanted to buy. To fix this, I had to add code to check and make sure you were eligible to buy the item. In the process, I forgot that personal items do not have the same rules as normal items, thus making them un-purchaseable. This problem will be fixed in the next version. Thanks for finding it!
I will fix online.php also, since it currently only has one of the files in the array.
Could you explain a little more about what you had in mind about the clans and how they relate to the battle/rpg hack?
Fists should be working in version 0.57. They should do 10 * your level in damage. Let me know if this is not the case, and I can run some more tests.

Someone applys to open a clan, if hes accepted by the admins, he has his own clan. Now when people visit clans, they see all the clans that are created, if they want to join the clan. The click join. And the leader of the clan has some rules, like your level should be 10, or your hp must be 500+. Like that, if the person meets the requirements, he can join the clan. All the members in a clan, have some things, like. If one of the members win a battle, he gets this much amount of money automatically, and he gets whatever amount of money weekly or monthly. Also every clan can have a 50x50 icon which is displayed on members profile, and on the leaders profile it says Lead of the "Clan name".
and displays the CLan Icon. Also every clan has a little description which is displayed on every members profile.
Suggestion
Ok, the suggestion I have is, you should also add a little battle Text on the postbit, so if someone wants to battle someone, they click battle on their post, and it goes to the battle start page, with the username of the person they clicked on already entered.
Another Suggestion
ok, one last suggestion, every member should be allowed to set the amount of wager they would take, anything lower is acceptable, but nothing higher is acceptable. Ok, say I set $600 wager maximum, no more then that. THen anyone who challanges me, if he has $700, it will give an error, saying User Doesn't accept wager higher then $600. Isn't that a good idea?
but if the challenger puts wager anything lesser then $600, or even $600, the battle message has gone to the oppenent.

Also, bitsys, if you want to see how my image system works, all i did was open all the images of the classes, flip them, and edit template called
battle_arena, and put a 1 beside the whatever is on the left.
So its like this $opponent[classfolder]1.gif instead of $opponent[classfolder].gif
And I have all the flipped images saved as, name1.gif.
If you want the images, i'll upload them ^_^

Version 0.58 is done (see the first post for an updated .zip file). An upgrade file is included in the upgrade directory. Please follow the instructions EXACTLY. They are a little different this time.
Bugs:
Fixed bank money not showing in itemshop.
Reduced queries in battlefight.php down to 15 when it is not your turn (i.e. when anyone but the combatants views the battle, there are only 15 queries made.)
Adjusted several input boxes in the RPG Admin menus. The positions changed around and were made uniform.
Fixed inability to buy personal itemshop items.
Fixed gender-specific wording in battleupdate.php.
Some other typographical errors.
Features:
You can now add/delete/edit battle scenes in the admin cp. Users get to select which one they want when they create the battle. The same battle scene stays throughout the entire battle.
Fists now do damage.
The help Documentation has been updated again and will now be included in each version of the hack. It is located in the "extra" directory. This can be used in place of the readme file.

Adding on to AViO's suggestion on clans:
Clan Leaders should have the option when purchasing their clan to only accept certain members (either through Leader approval, a donation of points, being a certain level, whatever), or to make it open to all members. Also, Clans should have their own battle stats, so if a member of a clan wins a battle, their win also adds to the entire Clan's win statistics. Same goes for losses, draws, retreats, etc.
Clans could have something like an "Aura", which is determined by their overall wealth, strength in battle, etc.
Clans could also have their own bank in which they can share money between them.
I beleive that these features could add a whole new level of teamwork in forums.
...and God willing, someday there will be team/clan battles. ;)
EDIT: Yo, Bitsys, you may want to edit that FAQ of mine in your docs, it's a bit customized for my forums. ;)
(i.e. Most people won't have a "Hospital" button in their forums)

One thing also.
I have this on my board allready working pretty good. Do you think you can make a page that will let MOD's take and give points?
I have mine up but it wont take away points from the bank if the money in pocket is at 0. it will just give the user a negative number.
Insted of giving a negative number i want it to take awya from the bank, and then when the bank money is gone, then it can give a negative number.
Im not using the bank on mine right now just b/c of that reasen :P

ohh the collective clan HP is an excellent idea! then members can have wars! I would love to see that in one of the versions!
this may be a bug - when someone wagers money and then they retreat from battle, the money dissapears ie neither the wagerer or the fighter left in battle gets it. Is this supposed to happen?

1. when you fight there is al little stat in the attackform that only give the stats of the right profile

1. Go to your admin panel
2. Go to modify user profile fields
3. Find the Points profile field
4. Right click over the edit link and go to copy shortcut
6. Copy it in your browser
7. Near the end there will be a number. Remember that number
8. Go to edit the itemshop options
9. In the top option put in field# and replace number with the number you recorded in step 7.
If that doesn't work, then do the same thing for the RPG Name field and the battle options menu.

What happens when you remove one of the $post[items] variables? There should be only one.
The "Your Stats" bug will be fixed in the next version.

2. make the "alt" text of your weapons etc in postbit the name of the item so all you have to do is hover over it to find out what it is.

Hehe, you've discovered my secret ;) Actually, in order to cover all angles, I decided to copy and paste certain parts so that they would be easier to find. Remember, the help doc is simply a reference material, and not meant to be read straight through. The way I see it, the more places and ways I can present the same information, the more likely people will be able to find it, thus enhancing the usefulness of the document.

I must agree that the clan idea is a very good one, and I like your suggestions/additions to it. However, if I were to make it, then this hack wouldn't come out of beta for at least another month and a half.

Bitsys, you may be able to help me. I'm trying to display the richest user's username and amount of points they have on my forum home page.
So far, I've gotten it to display a username and the amount of points they have on hand, but it's not showing the richest user.
Here's the code:
$mostpoints=$DB_site->query_first("SELECT userid,field5 FROM userfield ORDER BY field5 DESC LIMIT 1");
$richest=$mostpoints[userid];
$richuser=$DB_site->query_first("SELECT userid,username FROM user WHERE userid=$richest");
$richestuser=$richuser[username];
Again, it displays a username and their matching amount of points they have on hand, but they are not the richest, nor the poorest either.
Any hints?

The user's points are stored in a field that is VARCHAR. String sorting is different from numeric sorting, so you can't query the database in the numeric sense. If you have phpmyadmin, you can verify this by going to the userfield table, clicking on browse, then clicking the field5 column. Note how the values appear to be out of place based onwhat you would expect. There might be another way to do it, however.
EDIT: After a little research, I think this will work:

I just did a little more experimentation. I realized that since there are two separate places where you store the amount of money the user has, then you may want to show the person who has the most overall money. The person with the most overall money is the person that has the most money in their pocket (most points) AND the most money in the bank. To do all of this in one query, you can do the following:
$mostpoints = $DB_site->query_first("SELECT round(userfield.field5) as field5,items_user.bankval,round(userfield.field5+i tems_user.bankval) AS total,userfield.userid,user.username

I could do that, but people would have to remember to put another variable in their postbit template every time they added a new item category. Is that what you want?

In the Battle Options Menu, do you have "Calculate user levels based on post count" turned off?
If so, then open up the help documents. Go to Battle->Admin->Options. Scroll down until you find "Name of the field used to store a user's level" in bold. Read that and do what it says.

Forgive me if someone has already mentioned these, but I think it's a pretty reasonable and logical suggestion. Bitsys, do you plan on making different levels of classes?? For example, say a new nember chooses his Class as a normal Wizard. Once he/she reaches level 10, he/she will be automatically Re-classed as a Magician. Once he/she reaches level 20, again the user will re-classed to "Mage". When the user reaches 30, they become a Summoner, and so on and so on. Is this feature planned for future releases??
Also, I noticed on some boards, once a user chooses an alignment, element, race and class, it becomes permament. As in they will not be able to change any of it with that username--unless of course the feature I mentioned above was implemented, and only their class would change. Do you plan on making this feature in future releases??

I have one problem.
No matter which way I have it set (power level by post or battle) when I try to start a new battle it tells me to 'Please enter a valid password' no matter what I put in.
Any idea's would be appreciated.
BTW This is a new install. Also this is a great hack, I had version 57 running fine on my test board.

The suggestion is, that the level should not be powered up by posting, it should be powered up by battles, that way, when new members signup, they don't have to worry about posting 10,000 posts to beat the strongest.. There should be a option. Increase level by battles, or posts, or both!
I think that would be a nice addon..

AViO, it already exists, lol. Look under your Battle Options. It was because I chose option that I ran into database errors. Fortunately, Bitsys included the helpfile and it told me exactly what to do if I wanted to increase a Members level from battles instead of posts.
AViO, try this. Go to the Battle Options Menu, and have "Calculate user levels based on post count" set to "No"?
Once done, open up the help documents. Go to Battle->Admin->Options
and you should be set

Bitsys, for some reason on my test board a member's full stats shows as follows:
Class: Assassin
Race: Orc
Alignment: Evil
RPG Gender: Male
Attack: 0
Magic Attack: 0
Speed: 0
Defense: 0
Magic Defense: 0
Evade: 0
I'm using the default numbers for magic attack, speed, etc. Also, the level isnt showing up in the postbit for some reason. And lastly, the guy thats battling me gets an error when he tries to attack. He has yet to post the error. I will post the error once he gives it to me. Until then, what could the other stuff be caused by?

Yes, this would be an excellent add-on for my "Account Information" sidebar on my forumhome.

Suggestion1: I believe that was in the original class hack. The problem I had with it in this hack is that for each class, you would have to assign a post count and a Name for that level of the class. This seemed like a ton of work, plus, it would have been hard to implement in the postbit stuff as well as battle. I am still looking into it though.
Suggestion2: It has been suggested before, and I am still thinking about it.

The problem with updating stats automatically is that every time you made a post, it would have to run through the update stats code. I am not sure that this is what everyone wants, since that would add quite a few queries each time a user posts.

Make sure that you have created two user profile fields, one to store the user's level, and another to store the user's experience. Then, make sure that you and your opponent have those fields filled in appropriately. You can do this in the admin cp by viewing a user's profile in the admin cp.
I think I will change the whole experience/level system. Here is how the new system will work, let me know what you think:
Two new fields will be created in the user table. One will be called experience, the other will be called level. Any time a user posts, they will gain experience (if the admin chooses that option). That experience will add to their total experience (can be greater than 100). In order to calculate the user's level, I will use the same formula that is currently used for the user's post count. So, a user with 63,000 experience will have a level based on what you set the power level modifier to. If you set the modifier to 5, then with 63,000 experience, the user may only have a level of 27, but with a modifier of 1, the user may have a level of 2,000. The remainder of experience above the level will be used to calculate the user's progress towards gaining another level. This system will be better for the following reasons:
People who want to use the post count to determine experience can still do so.
People who want to give experience based on battle AND post count can do so.
People who want to be able to manually change the user's experience/level and make it PERMANENT will be able to do so.
I can still make it retroactive based on post count.
Users can still gain experience based on battles even if the admin chooses not to post the results of the battle to a forum
This will simplify the battle options menu greatly. If I were to implement this system, there would be much fewer database errors since there is no need to iunput the correct name of the user profile field. Also, Admins could switch between systems at any point in time, without worrying about users losing levels and experience.
Let me know what you think or if you need a little more explanation. Overall, I think this would be for the better if I changed it around a little bit.
WAIT! I just had another idea. Instead of making two new fields, I only need one - the experience field. Assuming that you would want to use the formula, I could make it so that everything is based off of experience, and the level is automatically calculated from that. Whenever you wanted to reward a user, you could give him/her a specific amount of experience. The higher the user's level, the more experience they would need to get to the next level.
So, how about that?

I fixed it by rehacking it all, I must have messed up somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find where. I even used file compare and there are no differences.....
I noticed you say to raise the power level modifier to make it harder to gain posts, well for some reason mine works the other way....
At 1 it takes 3 posts to get 1% exp on average. (Where I needed to set it btw because of over zealous users ;))
Also no matter what I tried I could not get the exp to work with battles only. I have the correct fields put in the battle options. I've tried on my localhost and online several times with 2.2.6 - 2.2.9 and it won't work for me on any of them. I never had a problem with your last version, so I'm kinda stumped.
Anyhow, this is a great hack bitsys. I love it and so do my users.
(yes, I'm one of the idiots with it on a live board).

Idea: In Items, when creating a personal itemshop, will it be possible to have sub categories for itemshop categories. If I make a itemshop for a specific group, then I need to make all types of items, but how can without creating a million categories, do you get it? Sub Item Categories. Also RPG Clans, that would be so hot. Like a clan creator, with your own personal items, logo, and other stuff. Im not sure if this has been asked, but it sounds cool to me. So bitsey if your into it, lemme kno. Also, why do all the items have to be generic? can i change that?

Due to the original database strucutre from which my itemshop is based off of, it is not practical to make sub-categories.
Clans have been suggested, but are not at the top of my list right now.
You can change an item's type by going to the "Edit Item Type" menu in the admin cp. If you only see one column, then you must add more RPG Types before you can assign items to mulitple types. After you create this RPG Type, you must put RPG Classes underneath it at the "Edit Classes" Menu in the admin cp.

However, you have to set up two different categories to sell both types. I think it would be better to be able to sell both types in one store, so a user keeps to just one weapon slot. The same goes for accessories, spells, etc. Instead of having things that must be in their own individual store for things that do + to HP, MA, PP, etc., they should all go in one store together.
I don't know if this is just a minor change or a huge alteration, but I think it would make the store more streamlined.

Currently, two-handed and one-handed weapons do the same thing in battle.
The reason I made it so that all items in one category do the same thing in battle is so that you don't have to specify what each individual item does. That seemes tedious. It was also not a part of the original itemshop design. What you are talking about sounds more like an inventory system. Or, a system in which the user must select which items they want to use while in battle, right?
I am not sure about what you meant on the "+ to HP, MA, PP" stuff, but you can put + to HP and/or + to MA potions under the same category.
An inventory system and/or battle weapon selection system would add another level to the complexity of the current system. As such, I don't think it constitutes enough merit for change, but I am always open towards more opinions.

-If you option to choose as ability, mug, or pickpocket, you can steal money from people, you write a story that you walk into someone, and that you steal a maximum of 50 points/gil (points are now called GIL!!. you cannot steal from people who have less than 100, if people carry more than thousand money, you can steal 100 gil, and so on.

1. Intro
As you've probably read somewhere this RPG makes use of clans. Clans mean that a group of people who are playing here, joined each other to have more power in forfilling their common goal. They are also asssociated with fighting crews, well they actually are
1.1 How to set up a clan?
You can easily set up a clan by posting in the right forum with a thread title that you want a clan, it'll cost you 2500 points. It's usefull to have a clan banner [88x15 pixels] so members can put it in their signatures.
1.2 Making rules to a clan
If you're a clan owner you can make rules to your clan, like only elves'll be accepted, or you need level 5 in strenght etc. Just make a new thread called rules and it's done...

What's gil ?
-GIL is the money that'll be use in the RPG.
What can you use gil for?
-You can buy Items in the Itemshop.

-7 Items, but you can sell them again and buy something else.

-That viariates, if all people will buy the same items the Itemshop can say that there aren't any items in stock anymore.

-Yes, just PM someone that plays the RPG as well and ask it, you have to had a meeting with the person in a training or a pub or so!

-Just people you don't like and play the RPG can be your enemies.

-Just post in the register forum, and make a new thread titled: [your name] Registration or something like that.
Do I have to register for the RPG ?
-Yes you do.
Why is it a RPG ?
-Because you're playing a role from a character.

Bitsys, I got probs, -_-.. I was battling with a friend, cuz he was having probs, so i went to edit Item types, I changed them all to Generic, and i tried to change them back, but it doesn't work.. and everything says
Your Item is for a different class. Please sell it.
except for fists and ++++, please help, what do I do?

Which part of it is not working? When you go to the Edit Item Type menu, and you click the checkbox next to a class type other than Generic, what happens?
The reason you are getting the message "Your Item is for a different class. Please sell it." is that if you have a weapon that is type-specific and it is not valid with your class, then you should not be able to use it in battle. However, if an item is generic, then you should always be able to use it in battle, regardless of your class type.
What problems was your friend having before all of this started?

I am still here. It is just taking longer than I had hoped to get the install file working. Here are some new features for the next version:
mr e was kind enough to make an element strength/weakness add-on. It allows you to specify a strength and a weakness element for each element. For example, you can say that Fire's weakness is Water, and that Water's weakness is Earth. In battle, if your Element is your opponent's weakness, then you will do 1.5 times the amount of damage normally done. However, if your Element is your opponent's strength, then you will only do .5 times the amount of damage normally done. Strengths and weaknesses can be set in the admin control panel.
VeoMorphine was kind enough to make a bank/points moderator add-on. It allows moderators the ability to give money to users via their bank or their cash (money in pocket). Moderators can also take away money.
The battle formulas are getting some tweaking in order to make the battles a little more interesting.
The whole level/experience system has been re-done and now has some nice features.
Plus, a lot of bugs were fixed and small requests were added.

Did you get any errors during the installation? In particular, did the vbhacker script say that any of the code insertions failed?

dan moetie wel werken en over dat het pagina niet komt weet ik ook niet misshien ligt het aan vb
maar ik weet het zeker dat hij met 2.2.6 en 2.2.7 heel goed lukt
Probeer dat eens te doen als je het gedaan hebt en lukt niet
vraag bytsis maar want die weet het wel beter :)

Version 0.59 is done. The original post has the updated .zip file. An upgrade file and script is included in the "upgrade" folder. Please follow the instructions carefully, they have changed from last time.
New features:

VeoMorphine also made a mass points script that allows you to give numerous users different amounts of money using an input box in the admin cp.
The battle formulas have been tweaked to reflect the new experience system.
The whole level/experience system has been re-done and now has some nice features.
In the admin control panel, you have the following options, related to the new experience system (found through the "Mass Experience" link in the admin cp):
You can give all users the exact same amount of experience. The amount you specify will be added to the user's current experience.
You can set all users' experience to the same amount. This can be used for resetting expereience or putting everyone ont he same level.
You can reset all users' experience based on their post count. For example, if you want to set a user's experience to 10 times their number of posts, then use this script.
You can do the same thing as above, except this script won't give a user experience if they have more experience than 10 times their number of posts. For example, let's say John has 300 experience and 40 posts. Then, if you choose to give 10 experience per post, then John will have 400 experience after this script is run. However, let's say Dave has 500 experience and 30 posts. If you decide to give 10 experience per post, then Dave's experience won't change, since 10 * 30 = 300 and is less than Dave's current experience of 500.
User levels are now calculated in a single function located in admin/functions.php. You can adjust the formula there and it will be applied everywhere that the user level is calculated. The function name is "getlevel".
When clicking on the link in the postbit that says "Not in battle.", you will be taken to the create new battle screen and the username of the poster in which the link was located will be automatically filled into the Opponent name field. There is no link if the poster is yourself, or if you are in battle.
For those of you who want more information about how battles are processed, there is now a variable at the top of battle.php called "$battledebug". Setting this variable to 1 makes the battle print messages of variable values as they occur throughout the battle. Most of the variables have to do with one or two-handed weapons, since these are the most popular.
The two opponents should now face each other while in battle.
Bug fixes:
You can no longer buy items while in battle.
Online.php should now display the correct locations. Not fully tested.
Some other minor bugs.
