ONly hack that works for me is the welcome panel. Any other hacks wont work. I'm using 2.2.8. I edit the file(s), then check, and it messes up
For example: I tried doing the drop down moderator hack, it took the links out of the moderators, and just made them text wiht no dropdown. When i tried applying the original files, it does't revert to the setting it originally had. I dunno why. Please help.

You just have to follow the instructions properly, and use a text editor that doesn't change the formatting of the files.
Also, you need to provide more information:
What do you mean "hacks won't work"? What error do you get?
Which hacks?
Most of the time it's because instructions were not followed properly. Reappy the hacks, and make sure you are doing thins right ie. replacing things needing replacing, adding things above or below in the right places.

this is what i'm doing, i'm a mod, so i dl hack from here, tell him which files i need, he sends them to me, i edit them, send them back, he opens the file on the server, edits it, and pasts the entire contents of the altered hack file and pasts it into the one on the server. AFter all this is done, it still doesn't work. Even when the original file was edited back, it doesn't go back to the old settings. He can't overwrite the file, because he's an admin, but not the actual admin on the server.

Even when he reverts back to an original unhacked PHP file, it doesn't work? Well... something is very wrong with your server or setup then.
What is the error message?

not the php. The template files. When i did the welcome panel which involves the php files, it works fine. However, when i just do hacks (not really hacks, but template modifications), such as lets say the online.php colors, or even the forum drop down list, it wont work. Then when i revert to the unedited template file, it wont revert back to the original settings. When i say settings, when i edited the templates for the moderator drop down list, it just removed the links, but didn't put them in drop down menus. When i put back the original code, it wouldn't change back. That's what i mean.

You can't revert the templates? Are you sure you are reverting the templates in the correct templateset? If you have custom styles, you need to revert the templates for EACH templateset.

hmmm. What i know is, that we started from the original template, then started changing the pics, the colors, etc.... Are their multiple folders for each template? Are their multiple forumdisplay_moderatedby.txt files? If there are, we might be editing the incorrect files. IF this is considered to be a custom template we're doing, www.dayentech.com/vbulletin, then where exactly on the server do we go to get the template files we need for our custom template?

Go to Admin CP -> Templates -> Modify
There should be a list of all the templatesets - there is a default one, plus a list of custom ones. Make sure you are editing the correct ones.

I'm moving this thread to Support since this is about support and not about hacking tips. :)

I wish i was an admin. I'm just a mod doing the file hacks. When he goes there, will it display the current template in use? IF it does, will it show the location of the files on the server that it's using so we know which specific place to go for the exact file for that specific template in use?
If you have aol instant messenger, please msg me at "icroyal"

wait a minute, can you edit the templates code from within the admin cp?

Yes. :)
In Admin CP, Templates, click Modify, choose the templateset, and then click Show All to see all the templates in that set. You then need to do this for all your custom styles.
