View Full Version : A few questions?

Um, well first, should I have even registered here since I don't actually have a license?
After that a few questions:
It states that support for the full license lasts 1 year after.
Does that mean after a year of support and not re-paying, I'm not allowed back here until I pay or what?
I want to pay for a license in English pounds, is this possible? If so, can I use a cheque?
Thanks if you can answer these. I'll PS: any extra questions after my name.
Cheers, - Dave.

Yes you can pay per cheque, too
look at the ordering infos of vb.com
no, the one year period only means that you have one year acces to the member-section on vb.com and download the newest version of vb there

That sounds a little unfair to me.
Surely it should be a lifetime membership.
Either that or make people pay more for the product.
I'm not the richest person on earth, so it's not gonna be easy to save up for vBulletin, but having to pay every year extra access is a bit too much for me...
I don't mind buying the product, and I probably will, but the '1-year-only access to the members section included in the payment' is slightly farfetched to me.

no it isn't.
you can use the software as long as you wan't. just for any newer versions you have to pay extra once per year.
if you compare this to other software enterprises you can see, there you won't get any product upgrades when there's a new version out

Thanks.
Another thing.
I've ordered it, so that means I'm definately buying it :D.
It took me to a check summary page (printer friendly), but my printer is inoperative...
Now what?
Thanks, - Dave.

Make sure you write done the important information: order number, etc. You can also view the page source and save it to a file on your computer.

I presume I send that information in a letter-style with the check in the envelope?
Thanks, - Dave.

I don't know for sure. What do the online instructions say?
i still don't understand why you only give 1 year access to people who buy your forum software to the hacks forum. it's the user's source code, shouldn't they have a say about it's cost? sure, if their account is older than a year and hasn't been renewed, don't let them download new versions until it's renewed, but let them ask questions, view the manual, download the image packs, etc. it just seems wrong what you're doing

As far as I know you get unlimited access to the hacks forums here, whether you pay the renewal fee or not.

I believe NTLDR is right - at least for people who have an owned license. The ones with leased licenses need to renew anyway otherwise they have no right to continue using the software.
ah, sorry. my friend owns it and told me he no longer has access to the vbulletin.org forums (to download anything i mean). he does (or did) have an owned license. guess i'll talk to him about it. i only post because we are redoing the forums and looking for some hacks and api documentation.

The method of showing your a licenced member has changed recently, try updating your profile, even if you haven't changed anything and make sure the you email address is on the form.

I should be confirmed on Tuesday/Wednesday.

I've noticed I can't access attachment.php.
Does this mean after my year's subscription is up, I cannot download hacks from here anymore?
Dave.

Depends. If you purchased an owned license, you will have access here at vbulletin.org indefinately. You'll only lose access to download new versions of vBulletin from the vBulletin.com-members area.

Davey, for now you can, een after you 1 year upgrade access has finished.
Even after your access has finished, I beleive you still get access to the members area, but access to new downloads will be taken away. You will still get the same support, and manuels and other helpful stuff.

What's the difference between this forum and the vB.com forum then?
By the way, I should have my confirmation on Tuesday since I sent the check on Friday :D.
So do I get the customer number and password in the email confirmation, or what?
Davey.

Davey, this is a code hack site. vBulletin.com is the official product forum with development issues occuring.
I got my customer number and password via email, so you should too.

Ah, it doesn't matter now.
I got the confirmation between 9:00am and 12:10pm GMT(0) this afternoon.
Looks like I'm an official vBulletin member now =D.
