What it does ?
This hack is integration of pafiledb to vbulletin.
Its complete new code. Nothing imported from pafiledb.
* Please dont remove the link and my name *
Currently this hack is working without any problem.
Tested on Local vb 2.2.9.
Also tnx limpkinw for testing it on his server ...

Current Version : 2.0

Features :
-> Search (via date, via viewcount, via name and more)
-> Letter view
-> Perpage display
-> Subcats
-> User file submissions
-> Forum per category
-> Thread per program (if category forum selected)
-> Custom userfields
-> Moderate files
-> Easy admin panel
-> Template based
-> Archive stats
-> Installer - UnInstaller
-> And more :p

How to use ?
- Upload filesadmin.php to your forum admin dir.
- Upload filesinstall.php to your forum admin dir.
- Upload files.php to your forum dir.
- Access filesinstall.php and then click install.
- Access filesadmin.php to set it up.
- Add categories , files , custom fields.

Feature Requests :
Request anything you want i will try to add it ;)

Bug reports :
Bug? Huh? After 5 beta release ? There shouldnt be!

this hack also its own comment addon..

this is how it works :
once you set a forum for category;
and add files to that category;
a thread per file will be created for those files which are under that cat ... with this way you can rate , comment files in the system ... also u can email the file via e-mail'in the thread ..

if you send your specialized ideas on the script i can work on this also for v2.

well installed it.. but when I enter the file archive it keeps on telling me to login.. so I login (again) and it returns me to my formumhome.. then I go back to file archive and I have to login again.......

this login msg covers all of the errors ..
this means ;
if you dont have any cat, file it will show that message again :)

add cats files and retry

before i try/use this, i have some questions:

-> Forum per category
-> Thread per program (if category forum selected)

this looks like i could assign a category to a specific forum on my board and have new files posted as a new thread automagically on submission. is that correct? just as clarification...
which username will the new thread be posted as?
can i set permissions to view/upload/edit downloads/categories per usergroup?

if thats the case, then i'd be most happy to use this...

allright ,

in category options , you can select forums to post msgs about your files which is in that cat .. with this option you can discuss on your files in that thread and also you can rate your file via that thread ..
-> in admin file submissions; thread will contain a link to file which is in file database and "this thread is about $filename blabla" msg. with the name of admin who added
-> in user submissions; thread will contain "tnx for submission $postername blabla" additional to admins submisson. with the name of admin who verified.

as for permissions :
registered users can post file submissions .. and they wont be active till you verify them ..
file upload not implemented for security and abusal reasons..

system a little complicated ...

thats a pity. the ability to have mother forums are what would make it better than anything else ive seen so far, but:

i want to run a database of documents developed by my users, secured by access restrictions and the files itself protected by htacces. this i can only achieve if the files get stored on my server...
so i'd need my users, or better mods to be able to upload, as i certainly dont want to have the work of ftping every file myself into position, and definitely i wont give someone else access to my ftp or the admin cp.

but you have to know that uploading files not easy to integrate in secure way .. also users can abuse this easly .. as it seems you have only problem with linking of files ..

ermm i will consider the special file system for admins/mods..

the code you posted for .htaccess to protect file on your server. i mean javascript injections , upload abuse and so ..

as i own a security related community ;
security is the most important thing for me..
also reliability and server usage ..

this means i cant take the responsibility via coding buggy upload feature ..

and one more thing : this hack is maded to cover all the needs of all type of communities .. think on sites with small space and little bandwith ...

but i can think on a upload feature for this hacks future versions

i hope this covers all of your questions . i tried to make it as good as possible

Right this hack is wonderful apart from one thing:

- the files cannot be stored in the database

I would prefer if the files could be stored in the database or alternatively you can post it as a text with all the vbcode stuff like [php] or [b] tags

So basically you have one screen when you click "Submit a file" where it asks you whether your tutorial is a file or it is a description where you can use vbcode :) - or both of course :D

If the files can be stored in the database on this and you have the option to post a vbcode based tutorial or a file or both - then i'll make a go at installing this hack :)

Thats what its lacking currently IMO

i will try to store files at db ... firstly i have to get the idea of vb file storing ..

anyway i dont get what u mean via file submission screen ..
you will enter details and admins approve it via admin cp ..

i planned like :
users enter all details to " additional information " space .. which is hack's common custom info .. and admin take infos from there to put other custom fields ..

for ex: you come and put infos like ; filename : mist creator : erdem bla bla and to additional info : filesize : 1 mb date coded : today bla bla
and then i view it ... get infos like filesize , if i added this to db as a new custom field , i will add this info for that file and approve it ..

a little complex but ermmm ...

I released v1.0 before any of your hacks, which has the same form, I have the v1 script if anyone wishes to see, then I worked on v2.0 upgraded the original thread, edited the subject of the original thread.

That is the better thing to do, if you want proof of the above, just read the whole thread, you will see that I announce dates to release v2 and, in the install I have an upgrade file.

Also you are not understanding the real point are you? Did you even read the post(s) in the general discussion fully, your archive hack itselfis not the prob, check the coding, review over it all, you even used the same variables from mine into yours, and the whole first 6 lines are a ripp, and there are other stuff too.

The wrapped up point is, you should of asked permission before releasing it, without thinking I would not find it.

Also Erdem, Erwin asked for a simple yes or no, so he could confirm the deletion. I am really more upet, because even with proof, he keeps denying it, and credit given to me in this thread will/still not make this situation better due to his attitude.

Mist read my post on the 2nd page.

A few suggestions:
- Ability to add different custom fileds for each category instead of all of them.
- When adding a file, the ability to specify the file´s category.
- Some kind of "rating system", where users can tell how they like (or dislike) a file.
- Report bad link (automatic send PM to (someone by UserID) or mail (seteable in php or some menu -admin CP-), with the link to repair)

this is the simulation of pafiledb ,so i used the same style ..

email file to friend also not implemented .. um do i have to ?

different custom fields per cat .. erm as i said b4 if you add custom cats to db in pafiledb it will show all of them while adding files ..

"When adding a file, the ability to specify the file?s category." this is for submission right ? i think this can be done by admins .. think of a db with 10+ similiar cats .. admins can decide that so users dont have categorize thier submissions .

if i can solve the pm , " Report bad link (automatic send PM to (someone by UserID) or mail (seteable in php or some menu -admin CP-), with the link to repair) " and " Report file submission " will be added to script.

if you set a forum for category the files in that category has a thread about it .. to discuss on it also to rate them via using thread rating .. i think it covers all the rating needs with the solution of vb cause if u gonna rate a file u may have to discuss with others .. but if you dont want threads about files this would be problem .. and as im using thread rating , additional rating system could be useless ..

has anyone thought about adding a batch build capability so that you could use the admin to generate the cats and sub cats, and then you just upload the files.. the script will then parse all the dirs for files and filenames.. calculate the size, and then build the links.

This is what I have been searching for.

MyeGallery has it. but the download plugin which makes the files downloadable is bugged, but the batch build functions work fine..

maybe someone can combine that with this?

Okay, love the hack.

Simple question... I cannot find the $catlist2bit template that is referenced. What I want to do is change the {categoryfontcolor} to a static color as this color does not show up very well on my first and secondalt row colors.

Am I clueless, or where is this template? Thanks!! :D

first of all change the files with the new files ...
and if you have an opportunity reinstall file archive system ...

Okay, thanks for the reply.

I will probably uninstall and then reinstall. Seeing as how I just installed and haven't poulated the databases yet, shouldn't be too bad.

Next question. Your update in the first post says to upload and access filesinstall.php? I do not see this in your updated zip file? :ermm:

Also, do you have a changelog as to updated/fixed features in v2.0?

-> upload these 2 (*) files ur forum admin dir ;
filesinstall.php for install and filesadmin.php for administration ...
delete filesinstall.php after install ...
-> upload files.php to forum main dir ...

i have no changelog ... but some @ my mind ;) ;
-> special characters and bbcodes now accepted ...
-> error at error msg display fixed ...
-> admin panel fixed for new entries and edits ...
-> report file added ...
-> add file template and code fixed ...

I cannot get it to parse the urls properly, it saves the file, creates the new thread the the url and vbcode is not correct shows the [url] instead of the clickable url

search for word "thanks" in file , u should find it at $message= ... around line 585 .... replace the current $message with $message="This thread is opened to discuss file which is stated at : "."$bburl/files.php?action=viewfile&f=$fileid1"."

hmm i really wish this took attachments from threads already :P but it doesnt seem to , that and the inability to upload directly is a bit upsetting

anyone made changes to allow this kind of thing or got a dload script that does this? IM DESPERATE

I am having this error as well. For the first file it worked but after I approved a file somebody else added I get this error every time I try to make file open = yes
