Alright guys, I am almost finished being busy, with my portal project due date coming up very soon, and the release of vB Links Directory 2.0, and Add a Thread to Your Fav hack, I will start to re code this.

Now I would like to take some time to analyze what you guys want.

Please give me full detail on what you would like to see.

For Ex: Would you like autothumbnailing or do you prefer to upload the thumbnails. The usual stuff.

Let me warn you there are specific server software needed for auto-thumbnailing, so somepeople may not support it.

New Features Coming:

-Picture Information Stored in Database
-Catagory Information stored in Database
-Image Rating
-Add Image to your Favourites*

Right now I am thinking of allowing you to upload the thumbnail, this makes it much easier for everyone.

Also do you want to have permissions, or just have the admins to upload images, or do u want your users to add images, etc.

I plan to re code this from scratch, I would like your full input.

number of views a image has gotton.

I hate this idea personally, I hate having stuffed stored in the db because it adds alot of time to backing it up, i think the best option would be to have them stored in a folder and hashed.

I think auto thumbnailing is a must, alot of people dont know how to thumbnail and id like to be able to control the size, *most* php installs come with GD in them now a days.

i think if you could have images remotely hosted on the person`s own web space. instead of storing it on the server where vbulletin is located. it would preserve space on the server.

just a thought.

It will come, I have been very busy for months now taking on alot of clients, before I was able to contribute few minutes to this every day, but now thats gone too.

I am focusing my efforts on the admin panel, because I find that the administration of some hacks are reallly hard, I will post some updates, also the Admin Panel is one of the easier ones to code to.

I will be stopping all hack, and script development by me temporarily, below are reasons why. Please try to read and understand, that this is important to me, and hack developement will resume thereforth.

Term-End Project Completion
School Exams are starting, and intense studying is required
I have been working on hacks, sites, scripts, and a new e-commerce script day-in and day-out, I think I owe it to my family and friends to take a break


Please understand that this is the routine of my life, and I have to live to it, or run away, or commit suicide :banana: but at this point, suicide will be kept at the bottom of the list :p

All Hack Development will resume soon.
After this post I will post the features of version 3.0 it is almost done, but the actual gallery itself is needing some work.

I like to make a suggestion, if the pictures are stored in the database, wouldn't the database get full and stuff? Also, if you have to move, restoring a database which is like 500 mbs won't be a easy job at all, in other words it would be impossible.. so I say, the images get uploaded instead of being stored in database!

I dont think that the pics would be put in the database actually. I think what will happen is basically a reference of the file location for each image. like in a certain directory for a specific group of images then when the database is accessed for the information it just references to the files in the directory therefore beign displayed on the page. simple..

I know that darkfusion is taking a break now.. he mentioned he would release it sometime this month so I'm kinda waiting.... just wondering if anyone that knows him knows one way or another if a new version will be out. (I don't mean to put pressure on etc, I just need to do something on my board to allow images and can't wait too much longer - only my own pressure, not on the author or anyone else)

If anyone has any alternative suggestions on systems that interface nicely with vb and don't cost an arm & a leg.. please let me know.

As some people from here may know already, the hacks are done. Question of when I will release them, its all clouded, I have yet to make installer and instructions. It seems to be running very nice, just having gif problems, trust me when I say, you will notice when its out.

Sounds good, I run several car spefic forums, and creating image galleries and then combining them with vbulletin user data is a pain in my asshole.

I'd rather have something that ties into vb like this.

I just want users to be able to upload pictures of their ride to their own gallery and not another users.

Things you may want to consider before asking for a release date...first off these hacks are very involved in both time and code. Arunan always likes to get things out in a reasonable amount of time but avoid any bugs ...

As part of a Gallery management solution for images I need:

1) Moderated process of review of images uploaded from users
2) Image "Standardization" to a standard color set and size (thumbnail as well)
3) Add custom watermark to each image by "merging" watermark with image
4) Customize title, description, four classificaitons,
5) Auto include timestamp, submitter info, rating, Parental Rating,
6) Limit Gallery viewing to member status (registered, guest, support)

Please let me know when / how to implement this set of features. I would be grateful.

I asked him to remove the domain from his signature because the statement in his signature suggested he owned it. Because of that you emailed me threatening me with legal action even though I have no connection to vbImage other then the fact that the person that published vbImage used to own urstuff.com and I now do.
