Report a post...SPAMMING?

Hi,

Is it possible for users to spam our forums through the report a post function? Or is this under the same time limit as the posts? We have that function currently set at 90 secs per post - but will that stop someone from spamming us by doing tons of reported posts.

If someone could get back to us quickly, we'd be really thankful as we've been threatened by someone that they'll spam us. We know they can't through the posts, but they could through the reported posts.

That's a good question. I really don't know the answer to this one. It's easy enough to test out though. Just try it yourself and see. :)

I don't think there is flood control, but if a member is threatening to spam your board using the Report link, just ban them now - a threat is grounds enough to ban the member.

We have tested the 'Report This Post' and there is no floodcheck.

The user who has threatened us has already been banned but we suspect he will try to get a new user name. What alerted us to this problem is that we had a user awaiting moderation seemingly testing the 'Report This Post' function so we know that someone doesn't even have to be an approved user to launch such an attack (another problem that needs to be addressed). But whether awaiting moderation or not we need to protect ourselves from possible attacks from this vulnerability.
