newbie alert - custom fields

okay...admittedly I'm a newbie, I do however know how to use the search feature, but I was unable to find exactly what I'm looking for in simple to understand language...so here goes

when my users register, I want them to enter their full name as a requirement for registration. I then want to be able to look that name up in the cp (or get it in the email generated upon new user registration).

I also don't want that full name to be available for viewing by other members on the forum.

Is this possible?

Step by step instructions would be appreciated...

nato in admin cp theres an option call User Profile Fields.... just create one... make it required... not viewable... and if you want editable... regards...

more specifically last three options... yes : yes : (yes/no?) hope that helps...
