i wait on his answer to. john said that he will add it to the cache because it will save a precious query...

i think it depends also one the admins. On some forums nearly nobody uses the ignore function, so it's not so important, but on other forums it's an often used function, and there one query less is always good ;)

but i'm also intrested in freddies answer :)
