View Full Version : Removing Sessionhashes COMPLETELY
A lot of my members are having trouble keeping the option in the userCP for browsing board with cookies stuck on YES, it seems to reset back to NO a lot :( Even if you delete your cookies etc.
How can I just simply remove all sessionhashes from the site completely or is this too much work :S

I wouldnt recommend such a practise.. It's there because it's needed.. I cant think of all consequences of removing it from your board but for at least one thing query load to your MYSQL server will increase dramatically if you remove it.
However if you are determined to remove it, you can search for
$session[sessionhash]
$session
?s=
texts in your templates and delete them.. This should work.. (I dont know if your board will work after removal though lol)
I won't change it if it will cause problems

I've installed vB 2.2.7 on my test board, sessionhashes are still there?

sessionhash is still there in vBulletin 2.2.7, but the new version fixes some of the problems relating to it. The big change that I'm aware of is:
Forumdisplay.php, index.php member2.php, poll.php, search.php, showthread.php, threadrate.php, usercp.php, admin/functions.php; changed array cookie storage format to fix issues with staying logged in
Try upgrading and see if that fixes the problems that your users are experiencing.

Sessionhash's are needed incase a user decideds not to use cookies, 2.2.7 is supposed to correct the cookie option changing.
Well in vB3 sessionhashes are removed as far as I know, it doesn't even give you the option to browse without cookies.

Just set the default to yes, make the variables hidden in the change options, and registration templates, and away you go. It will always be set to yes. I do that at my site.
