NTLDR

The text file is empty and the name of it suggest that this isn't a hack at all, just some vB code to add in the AdminCP
Matt87
08-10-2002, 08:41 PM
This adds vB Buttons similar to FireFly's Hack on adding PHP, and Code buttons.

phenomenal. :thumbs up also:
:p
Oh, this is not a hack also. Firefly may have released versions like this for the PHP button, but then again, FireFly is the admin :p
edit:
then again, since it does run queries..I am probably wrong. anyway..

I think all user end hacks should be integrated into Lesane's store. :cheeky:

i said this because it IS really a feature in lesanes store hack, the code wouldnt have been hard if they had lesanes store

It is? This adds buttons so that when you write a message you can add a glowing effect. This DOES NOT add a glowing effect to your username.

Why do you need to run any queries doing this? I have the same code you do and I don't have to run any queries.
Matt87
08-11-2002, 07:11 PM
You don't HAVE to run queries, you could add the custom vB code by using the admin cp, but it would take longer.
Boofo
08-11-2002, 07:57 PM
It will take just as long to run the queries as it will to enter them as a new vbcode. :)

Yep, there are several forums in which this happened and I can't explain it. There must be about 15 ore more of these strange posts in several forums.
I wrote a mail to info@vbulletin.org now to have a look at it. Because I don't want to get a bad name for things I don't do.
Thanks anyway for the reply. Maybe with this the admin can have a better understanding about how this problem occurs.

How do you do this w/o running a query?
Also, how do you add more colors? The screenshot shows green too, but it's not in the install.

You add a new vbcode entry.

Just repeat the process, but change "red" or "blue" to green, yellow, black, etc.
I had it on my board, but for some reason the green didn't work.

Can anyone give me the information to add into the Add New vB Code section of the AdminCP? I tried to run the query - but I got an error stating:
MySQL said:
You have an error in your SQL syntax near '\\\'Glowred\\\', \\\'<table style=\\\"filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)\\\">\\\' at line 1
Thanks in advance,
Matt87

Try this:
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (12, 'Glowred', '<table style="filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)">\\4</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (11, 'glowblue', '<table style="filter:glow(color=blue, strength=4)">\\4</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);
Do them one at a time

I still get the same error?!?!?!
Can you suggest anything else?
I am running the query in the main page of MySQL. Do I have to run the query within/under the 'bbcode' table?
Sorry...I'm only still learning about MySQL/PHP.
Thank you greatly for your assistance,

OK... try this:
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (99, 'Glowred', '<table style="filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)">\\4</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (98, 'glowblue', '<table style="filter:glow(color=blue, strength=4)">\\4</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);

You add a new vbcode entry.
Thank you Boofo for that very insightful answer. :) You care to elaborate? What is the vbcode for this.

The following is an example of how I have mine:
vB Code tag: glow
vB Code replacement: <span id="glowtext">{param}</span>
vB Code example: Glow
vB Code explanation: whatever you want to add
Use {option} ?: no
Go to Styles: [edit style properties] on whatever style you want
Head Insert:
Look for:
.thtcolor {
COLOR: { tableheadtextcolor};
}
and add after: and before </style>
#glowtext{
filter:glow(color=FFFF00,strength=3);
width:100%;
}
and there you have it. :)

The big problem with that is you're stuck with yellow as your glow colour. I tried it that way, then tried this:
vB Code tag: glow
vB Code replacement: <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="2" style="filter:glow(color={option},strength=2)"><tr><td>{param}</td></tr></table>
vB Code example: glowing nicely
vB Code explanation: This adds a user specified coloured glow around text.
Use {option} ?: yes
It adds a specified HTML colour code or named coloured glow around text and puts it inside a table - which can be troublesome - but I'm working on a sneaky workaround on the method you posted. ;)

I had it set up so that users could put their own colors in it but I had a certain user who seems to be color blind (although, as my wife, I love her dearly), because she kept using these colors that would blind a bat. :)

the original textfile instructions of this hack need to be updated, there is a huge error that makes this hack un-usable.
where it saysNow RUN this following MYSQL QUERY:
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (998, 'Glowred', '<table style="filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)">4</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (997, 'glowblue', '<table style="filter:glow(color=blue, strength=4)">4</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);it should sayNow RUN this following MYSQL QUERY:
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (998, 'Glowred', '<table style="filter:glow(color=red, strength=4)">{param}</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);
INSERT INTO bbcode VALUES (997, 'glowblue', '<table style="filter:glow(color=blue, strength=4)">{param}</table>', 'Glow', '', 0);or you get nothing but a glowing 4 where the glowing text should be - other than that, good hack.

sorry, that was just me.
there is still a problem with the sql code, however it's an easy one to fix, once you have inserted the code, you need to go into the vB code section of the admin panel, choose to edit each of the colours you add, and then hit "save Changes"
I don't know why this is, but I've just installed it again, and yet again it had a problem, but doing what I listed above will fix it :)

08-23-2002, 07:59 PM
Hmm... Well it worked fine for everyone before, I do know that you have to run the SQL query in the bbcode mysql table
I get {param} that glows when I install this hack??

I had this problem myself, but I don't know why.
what I do know is how to fix it :D
Goto the Admin panel -> Custom vB Codes -> Modify.
find the glow code, click edit (don't change anything) then click save changes. - That should fix it.
good luck.

I'd like ot install this hack, or something like it. The only problem I have with it is for each color you need a separate button. Would it be possible to set up this hack so it's more like the 'SIZE' 'FONT' and 'COLOR' options in a drop down box?
It could say 'GLOW' as the default selected option, and then you could drop down the box which would have as many different colors as you want in it, and once selected, insert the appropriate vbcode into the document.
Just curious if this can be done, as I don't really want to have 3 - 10 different buttons for whatever colors I want the text to glow.
Great hack otherwise! :)
