Hi, i've spend the last few days putting together a reviews area for my site, using various hacks and template modifications...

However, im trying to make it completely seperate from the actual forum and establish it as its own area of the site.. (ive made it invisible on forum home, coloured it differently, given it a different header.. etc etc etc.. ) :)

all that is left is to remove it from the forums search list, so that it doesnt show up.. because at the moment if you do the SHOW NEW POSTS, the posts in that forum show up also.

Can anyone help me with this.

I should also note that the reviews is a forum with 27 subforums (a-z and #) just incase that would have any effect on the solution.

Thanks in advance :)

I'm looking for something similar to this. A hack that would allow certain forums to be discluded from the "new posts" lists. Anyone know of one?

It's been asked a billion times. Search and ye shall find, although to my knowledge still nobody's done it...mainly because everybody hates to write stuff for the search engine :)

if it's any help I've used this (vB2.2.7) to exclude forums from the 'view new Posts' Search

/forums/search.php

find

$wheresql.=" AND thread.open<>10";

and replace with this

$wheresql.=" AND thread.open<>10 AND thread.forumid!=XX";

There are two instances that need to be changed.
XX, is the forum ID to be excluded
