How do I add an advertisers banner to each forum?

Add the banner html in your header template, that would be your best bet.

Will that allow me to put a banner on each category? I have several sponsors.

what you are wanting is a rotating banner script which I think there is a hack here that does that.
Best bet would be do a search for Ad Banners or something of that nature.
