The Alpha is up.

http://beta.vbulletin.com/vb3/ They do not have a release date yet. Atleast they aren't telling.

something like: showqueries=1.. should be useful to all of us to compare the performance difference between vb2 and vb3.
that is temporary and should be considered an option in control panel.
let me know if is a good idea.

one of firefly's many hacks made it: users browsing this thread. :)
also private attachments. anyone else discovered something new?

There are no private attachments and I also have never even looked at Firefly's Users Browsing this thread. Does it support showing guests too?

Browsing forum and browsing thread no longer use fields in the user table, but rather the session table so that we are also able to get the guests. Forum Browsers also counts any users who are browsing in subforums for the parent's total. There is also support for Browsing Calendar but I don't know if I will hook it up.

ahhhh.. i see. thanks freddie. i was basing my theory from firefly's early posts, where he let our community know that the private attachments will be included in vb3.
the guests browsing is great. i remember requesting help for a hack like that. :)

i have an idea, freddie. can we create a forum in the jupiter server where members can posts questions, hints and tips related to the alpha release? let us know if is a good idea.

i think is more appropriate to ask directly there our vb3 questions.

There's already a forum like this at vb.com:

vBulletin 3 Suggestions and Feedback (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=55)

I see that they have the CENTER and SPACE issues added to it now. Looks like that makes my hack obsolete for vB3, huh? ;)

Freddie, will they be adding a "Delete Original Message" option to the private reply post box? I think that would be a great addition. :)

The beta will be released for public downloading when the Developers have decided it's ready. This process is the same as when vB2 was tested and released.

What do you mean html files? vB is php based, and doesn't use html files - html are reserved for the templates.

VB3 will use the .style file.

Does that mean that our current vB2 styles wont work?

Will they import? Perhaps but there are so many template changes, they would be rather useless. The importer will attempt to convert any styles that you have loaded in but they will need a lot of handy work by you afterwards to get them working properly with vb3.

Yikes. Since my templates are quite modified, upgrading is going to be problematic. :) And for those who don't know, the Alpha 2 Preview Site link is in my sig.
