It's absurd to even try to compare Sept. 11th to any holidays. No go, pal.

My appologies. I edted it. Maybe it's the way I worded it, I wasn't compaing sept 11th to a holiday. I was simply saying, you can use these buttons for other events. If you don't like the fact that you can only use these buttons one time a year, I was saying that you can use them for other occasions. That's it.

I should have stayed out of this one. Too close to home, I guess. Sorry I butted in.

Maybe if you donated 100% of the proceeds and didn't try to make them anymore than for what they are, buttons to remember the day the world changed for us here in the US. ;)

You didn't have to go and do that, that's not what I meant. :)
And as far as the flags go, I think anyone who did that after Sept. 11th and made even one dime off of them, ought to be strung up and shot. And the same goes for the little ribbons that were floating around. Too many people saw an opportuninty to get rich off of misfortune. Recovering costs to make an item is understandable. Preying on people's sentiments and fears is another.
(See...I told you I shouldn't have gotten involved in this. :))

Hmm... I know I'm English but I see no reason to get angry at a guy because he uses the word 'holiday' in a way which some consider bad.
If he makes an xmas set of buttons he calls it a holiday set, if he made a Dale Earnhardt set I wouldn't feel angry if he called it a holiday set. He didn't mean that 11-7 was a holiday for him - grow up guys.

Growing up has nothing to do with it. Like Drk said, the wording of it is what set us off. And also, like he said, everytime is fixed now so time to move on.

I'm in your corner, Boofo. I am very patriotic. But I wouldn't use those buttons for that day. It is not a holiday. It is an Anniversary. The anniversary where thousands of lives were lost from all over the world. That 'scheme' only represents America. You're missing the representation of a couple of thousand lives with those buttons.

Diva, an act of war on US Soil, but since we can not have a pic of every country this is close enough.
I would not use these personally...and are not planning to at the moment, I would maybe use them for July 4th if I wanted to be bored or something....
But anyways, its always nice to see one helping others with button sets.

Being scottish, and watching the event as it happened, i was considerably rocked by it. It changed the way i thought, But it also got me thinking, Is there a huge world stir because millions of starving children dying in africa each week? No. I think that it shows that media affects us alot, if there was the same amount of coverage on the african crises, i think there would be alot more mouths fed.

Tell you what - call them a July 4th set. Isn't that better? No way that it's right to commemorate 11-7. (By the way I lived in USA for 13 of my 23 years.) Kicks the ass out of my country. ;)

Apparently you haven't read the whole thread (or for some reason can't seem to understand what has been going on here).
The issue never has been the buttons themselves. They are very good and he has done a good job. It has only ever been the way they were presented, which if you will bother reading and understanding, was taken care of a few posts back.
As far as who is the n00b here, it looks as though you hold that title better than I. So befire you start blowing hot air in the future, learn to read and understand and then maybe you won't come off sounding so foolish. 'Nuff said.

1. I like what he has to offer. I believe his intentions were good and he meant no harm. If I had a problem with his thread, I would take it up with him in private, or report the post to a moderator.
2. Unlike kaost451, you are not the author of this thread. If you make a stupid comment, prepare to be called on it. Likewise, if you make a stupid thread, I have no business tainting it with worthless replies.
3. My suggestion for you n00b, is to spend your spare time on something other than ball busting. Otherwise, you can tango with me and learn the hard way.

Hrm
. Since when did March 2002 come before October 2001? Ah well, minuscule point.
What you dont understand is the fact your complaint has little substance even if it was because he used the word holiday instead of anniversary or whatever the hell your beef is.
So as for my understanding this thread, I think Im right on target. You ramble about respecting thousands of people who died on 911, but you fail to extend basic respect to someone who made a relatively small error. Instead you garble his thread with ridiculous comments, instead of commending his contribution.

Dates have nothing to do with it. Active participation does. :)
Well, it seems that alot of others feel the way I do about it so there must be some substance there somewhere.
Yes, a mistake was made, and yes, it has since been corrected. And the author has been recognized for his contribution (if you would bother reading the comments he has recieved on his buttons). If you don't like what the thread is garbled with, then there are plenty of other threads for you to blow off in. Maybe someone there will care what you have to say.

Post whoring does not equal active participation. You are worthless, and so are your posts. 8.94 posts per day = you have no life. You are correct; he was commended for his buttons, but not before first being slammed with an outpour of stupidity. Do you also correct others for using improper sentence structure and punctuation?

I second that, sure 9/11 folks aint deserve this at all yet media made it so big than any events that go on everyday such as Africia, Ireland, Israel, and many more that always including war or death everyday. It is kind of sad to have that kind crap from media but nevertheless 9/11 is most impact experience for America and world. I am patriotic so Boofo, I m in your corncer too but I ll download it to show how much I think of them that they will never forget and will always in my heart.

I don't think the guy should be attacked as he has been for making a set of buttons to commemorate Sept. 11. I also don't think the people/companies who sold flags should be "strung up and shot". Flags have always been sold; if more people choose to buy them, that's hardly the fault of the retailer.
In any event, what is it you're getting so upset about? You act like this is anti-American. But isn't it very American indeed to have freedom of expression? Isn't capitalism also very American? Don't knock someone for doing something that's very much in the spirit of what it is you're getting so upset about in the first place.
Boofo
08-09-2002, 12:38 AM
I agree with you that Flags are sold all the time but to take advantage of a situation like alot of businesses and freelancers did after Sept. 11th was appalling and sick to say the least. Alot of people used the "American Unity" and "American Spirit" to make a quick buck. How much of all of that was really donated to any of the families that were affected by the attack? Most of it didn't get any further than their bank accounts.
The problem in this thread was solved a long time ago. It was more of a misunderstanding than anything else. Those of us that were personally affected by Sept. 11th were maybe a little quick to jump, but you have to admit, there is good reason there. What we lost we can never get back and there is still alot of hatred and anger there, whether anyone agrees with that or not.
I would personally like to see this thread closed and left alone. Rehashing everything will only bring that many more problems to what was already taken care of a while back. How about it Chen, can we close this now and be done with it? Please?
