It depends on what functions you want, vbPortal is good if you use all of the fuctions, otherwise I would advise you don't install it, other than that there is:

Pages driven by templates - c-pr0mpt;
Webtaemplates and Webqueries - Logician;
vBhome Lite - Nakkid;

It all depends what you want to do on your frontpage.
