This looks very good, I just installed. The only thing I would like to disable is the public viewing of book marks, how might I go about doing this? I really don't want somebody posting a nasty bookmark and make it public..

Or actually, to disable public viewing would all I have to do is remove the option for it in the bookmark page, when creating a new bookmark?

I do have some suggestions also, it would be really cool to have a link on every thread page, or maybe if a combination of keys was pressed like ctrl+b, that would bookmark that page/thread you were on and save it in your bookmarks. Man this would be useful ^_^

I just installed it and I must say, installation was a breeze with the included installer... It really simplified things.

I do have one problem though. When I click the "Browse (http://forums.zforcenetwork.com/bookmarks.php?s=&action=cpbrowse)" link on my board; it loads fine but I get the following JavaScript error:Line: 264
Char: 14
Error: Expected ')'

I got one heck of a long db error when I tried to install this. I've never had that problem before. Must be something going on with my db, but everything else runs fine. Go figure. I was due for a messup. Never had one until now. :)

A fast solution for this: Add a hyperlink on each thread. e.g.:
search in template showthread for <a href="member2.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=addsubscription&threadid=$threadid">Subscribe to this Thread</a>and add after: | <img src="https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/images/subscribe.gif" alt="" border="0" align="absmiddle">
<a href="bookmarks.php?s=$session[sessionhash]&action=add&threadid=$threadid">Add to Bookmarks</a>

Then upload the new bookmarks.php (from ZIP-archiv) into your forums directory...

Will "web links" be an available button somewhere in the forum? I hyperlink perhaps? How does the end user use this nifty new feature?

Run the installer (sqltodos5.php) again, but only the first step (Add tables/rows/fields in SQL-DB). That's all. Replace the old bookmarks.php with the file from zip archive.

The links shows in the user profile and in the users control panel. For me it's an awesome link because I travel a lot and my site is about travel and whenever I run off to another country I always have to make up a private page on my web server or carry a floppy of important links that I need. (i.e.-to pay bills, run a business, etc...etc..) I can't remember them all.

Having a way where I can do this on my own forum and be able to access it worldwide, saves me and my members loads of time.

I don't see where the link is for other member's to view your shared URL links. We didn't modify the getinfo template so how are the other members going to see the link? Just wondering.

Also, I installed the original version - do I need to run the installer again to add the new setting options? If I don't want the new options, can I stay with the original bookmark.php file or should I upload the new file? Thanks.

The hyperlink is only visible, if the user has public bookmarks and 'browse public bookmarks' enabled (in admin cp options). You don't must change the template 'getinfo'. The hyperlink in members profile is made by the change in the file member.php (customfields routine).

Ok, i installed the hack when it first was posted. then i added the links to add the thread to your bookmarks. When i click add to bookmarks, it brings me to the my user cp, add bookmarks, but none of the fields are filled in. I downloaded the latest file in post 1, re-ran the first step of the installer, uploaded the new bookmarks.php file, and it is still the same. Shouldn't clicking add to bookmarks fill in the url?

Is there a way that when you have the URL checking turned on that if you try to add a new bookmark and it finds the URL is no good, that it can give you the option of saving it or not, instead of automatically saving a bad bookmark? The message that tells you the URL is bad comes up kind of quick. I didn't catch it the first time. :)

and add after

I think 98 % is translated. Feel free to use it and/or improve it :)

For Bookmarks i used Favoriten, because i like that word more than Lesezeichen :)

I hope you can help me with one thing: My site has a border around the forum (width= 730) similar to www.vbulletintemplates.com

An arrow which up or to below points stands actually there. You probably don't have the necessary font - sorry :cry: You change this in the following Templates: mybookmarks_browsecp, mybookmarks_browsemp. Search for &and ; and &or ; and replace with e.g. 'asc' or 'ascending' and 'desc' or 'descending'...

NOTE: '&and ;' and '&or ;' without blanks

You find this either direct in the installation script (http://host/forum/admin/sqltodos5.php?s=&action=permission) or change admin/usergroup.php (http://host/forum/admin/sqltodos5.php?s=&action=permissionfile). Then you can change the permissions in the vB admin CP (User Groups).

When you go to RaTE BOOKMARK and you click the link to the TITLE of the book mark it doesnt take you to the actual site. It brings you to a blank page with the URL about:blank

Do you get the script error even if you browse public bookmarks (e.g. http://forums.zforcenetwork.com/bookmarks.php?s=&action=mpbrowse&username=Kakarot&userid=2?) I would send you the source of the page but for some reason I can't get it... Whenever theirs a JavaScript error it wont let me view the source of that page, I'm using IE6. Oh, and it only occurs when I use the link in the usercp.

It all installed great for me, but the Bookmarks section doesn't show up in the UserCP for me or any other member, and not in the profile either. Dunno what you need to look at. I can GET to the bookmarks page fine, but no links show anywhere on my board (as I said, in profiles and whatnot) to get there. :( help :( *sniff*

I add the bookmarks into the "Who is online" window:

Open online.php and find:

case 'online':

after that add:

case 'bookmarks':
$userinfo[where] = "Viewing <a href='bookmarks.php?s=$session[sessionhash]'>Bookmarks</a>";

Still in online.php
find:

and after that add:

case 'bookmarks.php':
$userinfo[activity] = 'bookmarks';
break;

Downlaod zip archive again and upload bookmarks.php into your forums directory. Replace the old file. That's all...

Ok You still have an error. This is the prob. You fixed it but you left something out. I get this as the URL when i press the URL in the RATE screen. /messageboard/&action=jump&bmid=1

THERE IS NO BOOKMARK.PHP before the &action=jump&bmid=1

Why did you add as backgroundcolor always the code #1960ca ??
I replaced it now with categorybackcolor.
The search template was a little bit more edited. The Table was smaller as before. In this Version, it has now thesame width as before.

But I will say thank you again, to edit these templates!!

:) well the translation was for my site, then i decided to make it public and forgot to change that!

Yes i also changed the width of some tables but without success! My page has a width of 736 pix. Some of the template does not fit into that size. But even if i try to change the table width it doesn't work. Can somebody help me out?

Check and see to make sure you don't have it set where they have to post a certain amount of posts before they can use the boomarks. I had that same thing happens because I had it set to something like 100 posts before they could use it. I knocked it down to 10 and it is fine now.

One thing that I have noticed is that if you are in Chen's quickreply box and you hit Shift B it will take you to the bookmark.

Is there anyway to disable the Shift B taking you to the Bookmark page?

I want my users to be able to be able to see all Public Bookmarks. The only way I see to see others public bookmarks (besides in their user Control Panel) is to do a search.

I would like them to be able to see all the public bookmarks and all the Public categories. (infact if users could store bookmarks in already created categories it would be cool as well.

This works per default. You need to do nothing. You find the hyperlink 'Browse all public Bookmarks' on every page below, if you look at the Public Bookmarks of a user. Or put this hyperlink someplace:<a href="http://domain/forum/bookmarks.php?&action=mpbrowse&userid=all">View all user's public Bookmarks</a>
No categories are shown there. The categories list could very much be (e.g. with 100 bookmarks users...). If you liked to show the categories nevertheless, then change something in file bookmarks.php:

This removes the problem that the Hyperlink to posters Bookmarks aren't correctly shown on the profile in the thread. And yes, replace both...

You don't have to change this, if you have downloaded the installation file within the last 4 hours

Since I never use Netscape it took me a good five minutes of figuring out that I could export my bookmarks to an html file.

I was REAAAAL suprised by the installation of this hack !

I admit I did not read well what it does before installing it. I thought it would only allow the users maybe to have bookmarks towards threads ON THE FORUM.

Now that it is installed, I would only allow moderators and supermods to use it... I am afraid it might make life even harder for novice users, and the risk of having links to warez and adult sites is high.....

Well, I never thought of that. Perhaps a future add-on would be a table of
site names that aren't allowed? That would solve it, and it should be fairly
easy to source. Unless, having such a table in itself would be a violation.
For my forum, I'll just relegate myself to keeping an eyeball on this. at
BBF, this feature is deployed, and mostly the admins/mods use it, and some
of the tech advisors..the n00b's that do use it, book mark forum threads.
I'm not sure they have learned that they can do external links, yet..

Once things is for sure, once the illegal link is discovered, it's fairly
easy to fix, both for the link, and the member who originated it.

I'm wondering if there's any way this can be modified or reworked to create a regular link directory, i.e., an addon to the main site rather than just confined to the members' control panels. (I know there are other vB-Link Directory type of hacks, but MyBookmarks seems to work more smoothly than they do... my apologies to the creators of those hacks if they're around!) Anyone interested in fiddling with this idea? Should I post this in "requests" maybe?

It seems that links with ampsersands (&) in them get written to the database as "&amp;" (html entities). Obviously, that causes a problem when displayed, and people try to click on it.

because of the db error, pls test:

search in showthread.php for:
WHERE post.postid = '$postid'
and replace with:
".iif ($bmpublicbrowse!="0","LEFT JOIN bookmarks ON bookmarks.userid=user.userid AND bookmarks.public='1'","")."
WHERE post.postid = '$postid'
GROUP BY post.postid

I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this in the thread, but I thought I'd leave a note in case someone else runs into this problem.

Hack works great - BUT, any member with a userid greater than 32767 could not correctly create a bookmark.

To fix this, I had to adjust the 'userid' field in 'bookmarks' within the database. I had to change it from SMALLINT (since I had more members than the allowable range) to MEDIUMINT.

No more problem.
