View Full Version : Sharing Templates among Styles

I have a question that seems to best fit in this forum, so here goes:

Is it possible to share template sets between styles BUT then have certain templates be different from one to another? For example, suppose I have two styles that are 98% the same, but I want the postbit template to be different. Can it be done?

I am hesitant to create a bunch of new template sets, since then each further modification I make will require a template edit for each style. Like in my previous example, if I want to change forumhome, I would then have to change it in both Style #1 and Style #2. So I would want forumhome to be shared between both styles, whereas postbit would be style-specific.

Does this make any sense? Can it be done with vB in its normal form, or would it require a hack?

This is not possible, not without hacking.

In vBulletin 3 however you will be able to do this and so much more... :)

Here's a hack that was for 2.2.2: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=33262 No idea though if it works with 2.2.6/7

Also this post here by Xenon: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?postid=280746#post280746 shows how to do it with $debug set to 1 (note this could allow your board to be hacked while $debug=1)

Hope that helps ;)
