I personally think this would be a great addition to the User CP. You would give users the ability to customize their View New Posts page based on forums and possibly other things. For example, if I only visit X and Y forums on a site, I could set it to only report new posts in those forums.

Right now, all this feature does is report back new posts in ALL forums since your last visit. This hack would let you weed out unwanted results and provide hightened efficiency. This would be totally customizable through your User CP. Useful feature? :)

Well if you wanted to view new posts for a specific forum then all you have to do is visit that forum, and all the new posts will be at the very top (if you by default, sort them by last post date).

Well, obviously, but this would really save time for you, especially in larger forums. I could just click one link and I'd get all the new posts for forums I'm interested in versus taking multiple clicks through several forums.

This would be such a kick ass hack.
Many of my users are complaining that the View New Posts page returns results from 'spammy' forums that they have no interest in. Many times they have requested the ability to filter the results.

If user-defined filtering is too much work, is there a way that I can globally filter the spammy forums from being included in View New Posts?
