View Full Version : RPG Job Classes Version 1.0.5
Aerith_Freak

The hack is based on the gender hack and allows users to choose an RPG Job Class (white mage, black mage etc). This can be choosen at registration or edited in the User CP.
The hack adds a new field called mage to the user table (via phpmyadmin or runaquery).
You the need to manually modify member.php and admin/functions.php
The hack involves a few template changes but it should work within 20 minutes.
TO-DO:
- Include Knoman's Level function into the hack
- Fix image align bug
- Guide on adding to getinfo template
POSSIBLE FUTURE ADDITIONS:
- Compatibility with Item Shop, different classes can buy different weapons etc.
- Admin's, Super Mod's and Mod's have a larger class choice
- Permissions, i.e. Being a specific class allows you to gain access to that class forum
For a working demo of the hack please go to
http://forums.zcentralhq.com/forums/
All further information required for the installation is contained in the .zip pack which also includes a readme file.
NOTICES:
I will not provide support for this hack, in a few days time I will add a file on how to add new job classes. But the best word of advice I can give you is to back-up your forums first. I've tested the hack several times but there may still be errors. So back-up!

So this runs like the element hack but just has a different name, right?
Aerith_Freak

I based it on the gender hack. I never used the RPG Elementals hack.... so I dunno how similar it is.
Anyway new updated install.txt file (the last one was full of bugs).
I've updated the .zip as well.

This is what the hack looks like once it has been installed. Note I have the level feature running on my forums and if you have Knoman's hack running you can simply put $magetype <smallfont>$level</smallfont> for it to show up.
Another one.. well its a nice job you did there.

Aerith_Freak, I m aware that ya dont plan to provide the support but...here it is..
I notice that there is no instruction for postbit and also your instruction for Member List Templates > postbit, I would think that you re trying to say Member List Templates > memberlistbit since $userinfo[username]</a></normalfont> is only in memberlistbit, not postbit Am I right?
And also $mageimage in memberlistbit doesnt work, no graphic show even images are in correct folders
oh I forget to add.. I have two 2.2.5 and 2.2.6 but 2.2.5 is only on test board also 2.2.6 too and one 2.2.6 at net board.

nice job Aerith though i don't really like when ppl don't offer support for their hacks but thats just my opinion... i mean if you think there may be errors then why release it without support doesn't make sense to me... either way nice work though i don't prefer to use this ;p
DestyNova i will offer support for you on this hack but i believe that the userinfo[mageimage] doesn't work?

Hmm, I'm noticing your picture you attached more than the hack, good job on the hack though. That postbit of yours is pretty nice looking....but your site...the layout is very familar to another FFsite I know of......but oh well! ^_^

I assume that Aerith have his reason for that
However, why thanks
What do you mean by that userinfo[mageimage]? I didnt see any on instruction about that one, which template should I add that one to?
thanks

lmao @ Velocd :p is that a rumor ;) or the truth :p
anyhows i can see how a battle hack is big but i don't think hard... i've thought about making one... but my members seem less wanting it then more ;\ i dun really care either way ;) just an interesting fact you've stated Velocd :p

Uhhh still no picture, I assume that you add $ to both userinfo[mageimage]
ex: $userinfo[$mageimage]
right? I try three different
userinfo[mageimage]
$userinfo[mageimage]
$userinfo[$mageimage]
Nothing works, just blank picture but strange thing that I play with postbit since Aerith seem didnt includin this one, I add just $mageimage in postbit and it work... but it show error align anyway

I'm sure you could make it g-force, with all these mini-hacks you've been releasing surely you've grasped the PHP coding skills well enough to handle something big. I agree also it doesn't seem incredibly too tough. I could probably make one but of incredibly simplistic design. But there is always that thing called LAZINESS that holds me back..;)

07-07-2002, 07:23 AM
Sorry Desty Nova ;\ i meant try $userinfo[mage] i don't see why that shouldn't work because i believe that Aerith has made it so it should work :)
Velocd :p laziness is the key word... now if i could find someone not lazy :p well that is another story ;)

Well one is never lazy when the super-keyword "money" is mentioned after the words "willing to pay" ;)
But I'm one who is never greedy and does things for free! So I have decided to not take this project up! That is right. ^_^ (<--lazy)
g-force2k2
07-07-2002, 07:30 AM
heh Velocd ;) willing to pay isn't me :p
i've done a lot of dev work on a few different theories and systems and looked at my odds :p but i still haven't dedided what the heck im going to do... but if i were to suggest something to us both maybe get back on topic ? :p
no but its all thanks to mister vivi ;\ (of course we blame him ;))

Zajako is creating a Battle hack to go with his ultimate stats hack. He's been working on it non stop.
g-force2k2
07-07-2002, 07:46 AM
Last time i heard he was having problems with time ;) but thats just what i read from his thread... dun know much but i heard its just in the beginning developments :p if i were to ever use a battle hack i would personally only use mine ;) not that im making one anytime soon... but thats just my input... is a battle hack good? i dunno ;\
but like starting off with a simple class hack such as this can be developed into much much more :) i've done alot with classes and i've done so many differen't thinks you'd be surprised ;p

I wouldn't recommend putting it in the memberlist anyway as it looks butt ugly.
You can add it in your getinfo template by putting $mageimage where you want it to show up.

Yeah but maybe I miss something in the instruction, problem is that I didnt see any instruction on postbit, so I assume that I add only $mageimage after Posts: $post[posts]</smallfont><br>
For example..
$post[avatar]<p>
<smallfont>
Registered: $post[joindate]<br>
Location: $post[field2]<br>
Posts: $post[posts]</smallfont><br>
$mageimage<br>
</td>
It look ok but not like your postbit and mine look bit wrong align. Check this attachment, I puzzled by this "level:" what does it do? And it seem do nothing so I m not sure
thanks for response anyway =)

Hey all, i used to have a final fantasy site too, like so many Vbulletin users, however i gave it up, it got as dull as hell and now im working on a graphics tutorial site that feautures a Trekkie Rpg
[Note: I know Star Trek is pathetic, and i even watched it to annoy the trekkies at my school about it, but now , like a bad soap opera, im hooked]
Anyways, it seems all the RP hacks are specifically made for Final Fantasy Websites, because theres a conception that there is only FF rpg sites, but i mean maybe a wider scope of things would be appreciated

I made it FF style because I wasn't originally planning on releasing it. But all hacks can be easily modified to suit different purposes. My forums were about Zelda before and I had everything setup to suit that.

If you have Knoman's stats and level hack running you can simply add $showlevel after $mageimage
And as for the align, mine does it and I can't work out why. It's setup correctly... probably just HTML being a pain again.
If you go through the hack steps again but change all the color="#ffffff" too color="#000000" it will make the text easier to read.

The hack is very simple to change to suit everyone's needs.
Where it has $bbuserinfo[mage] = 0 then an image display code, change the image path to an image that you wish to use for the class, then change the I am a -whatever- text to what text you want to represent that class.
Simple.
Oh and Version 2.0.0 is in final stages with the final few bugs being fixed.

I'm having a problem with v2.2.6 of vbulletin. The one with postbit, which someone else asked about. I found it in another thread. When i had installed everything, i could change my own class, but nothing with hp/mp/exp was displayed in any thread. Do you have any solution for this? (Or anyone who has got it working?).

Sorry for the long support wait. I'm guessing the problem is already sorted out but the HP/MP/EXP stuff is to do with Knoman's Stats & Level hack so you'll need to ask him for support.
Also Version 2.0.5 is complete and I shall post it soon (depending on how college goes).
