culprit

OK, I think I know what's happening with this but I need a bit of clarification and help to fix it.
I've set up a new style set for my boards with the styleid of 2. However when I browse back to my main, PHP based, site the pages fail to load.
I have VBulletin set up to apply its cookie sitewide so I can call user info into my non-vb pages, but it seems the styleid in the cookie is conflicting with the styleid when coming from the forums.
The easiest way to see what I mean is to go here:
http://www.wickedcolors.com/wkdboard/index.php?styleid=2
and then browse to a non-forums part of the site.
Have I figured this out correctly?
Secondly, how can I prevent the conflict?
Would swapping the styleid's in the db do the trick (or is that asking for trouble)?
Is there a way to set the styleid to 1 when a user exits my forums or enters a non-vb page? Obviously that would also mean I would need someway of setting the styleid to 2 when a user enters the forums.
Blimey this is creasing my head.
All help and suggestions gratefully accepted.
Cheers
