We developed a portfolio section that uses little requirements on the host server. No ImageMagick needed.

If anyone has ideas to help this market our members or improve usability - we are open for comments.

The portfolio:

Thanks to Chen for providing us a place to start...

Are you releasing this as a hack? ;)

That's the plan. The installer looks awesome and comes with a reversal to clear out your db. Brian did an awesome job. We are trying to work out all bugs and use issues first. So far so good but our board is young with few people using it so far too. So naturally I posted at vB.org for some feedback...

Did this come out?

Workin' on it. Brian just got back from a little R and R and it is in the priority bin. He already had most of it finished - so it will be up on VB.org soon.

I guess people liked it as is :) But I am sure we will get plenty of request for changes when the hack is posted. :knockedout:

I see those links broke. If that is from vB admin than se la vie. If you want to see the functionality you can look at our members list for members with a white paperclip next to their username.

Introductions:
My real name is Brian, I am the developer working on the portfolio hack on VisibleImpact.com.

It is good to see there is interest in this project. I apologize for not getting on the site sooner.

I have some simple polishing up to do. I also realized that some of the template modifications being made became fairly complicated. To help accomodate a better first experience I have created an install script. I used the install script from vBulletin itself to ensure people would be familiar with the interface.

We have been running this code for the past couple weeks with no complaints once we got past the first day. If people would like to see the product while waiting for the delivery date you can go to VisibleImpact Portfolio for Admin (http://www.visibleimpact.com/portfolio.php?s=&userid=1&action=view) .
or VisibleImpact Portfolio (http://www.visibleimpact.com/forums/portfolio.php?s=&userid=98&action=view)

In the mean time, what ideas do people have for this product. How does this portfolio fit within your site?

Very good idea.

A great thing about this script is your server does not have to have ImageMagick - a great obstacle that was whiped out.

Thanks for the patience. We are running our own tests on some dummy boards to make sure it is completely stable. Also... we are only testing with vB 2.2.6. If their is a version that is in question, which one? This is our first release. Is there a way to get older versions for beta testing hacks if needed? :lick:

Put it out for beta test and those of us who have been using vb for awhile still have our old copies and could help test it out.

i also would be interested in this

it would be nice to put some kind of link or remark in the profile and at the bottom of each thread of the users who use their protfolio...

it also would be great if you could use other files than grafics [movies and mp3s for example] and if it supports linking to another server...

keep on the good work !
thnx

We are about to post this under viPortfolio v1.0.0. Please post results on your earlier versions.

All veteran hackers input is highly appreciated. This install script was worth the wait... you'll see.

Unless an unforeseen change occurs, this will be posted within the next few hours. Thanks again for letting me add the suspense on this. We just wanted to be sure it was all good to go. :D

For all those that were interested in playing with new toys :)

I have finaly gotten to a point of distributing the viPortfolio project.

If anybody out there that would still be interested in helping us get this product and the installer more production ready please go to viPortfolio Release (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41691) and download a copy.

I am going to write up a description of the problems I am still having. I will be posting this in a couple hours. Any and all help is appreciated.

I was working on a "portfolio" myself, maybe we could cooperate? I have some things working for the moment. E-mail: gmarik@hotbox.ru
