There are a few excellent gallery apps out there that can access (or be hacked to access) the vB userbase, but they're a poor substitute for having it actually be part of vBulletin.
I'm currently using Photopost, which is an excellent app, the best one out there currently for vB users. It can be made to look like vB, but it's actually entirely separate. The posts there don't show up in 'new posts', or in searches, they can't be subscribed to, etc.
They're in beta now on a PHP version of PP, which is very cool, but won't address these features.
If anyone would be interested in writing a hack to put a gallery into vB, I'd be glad to test, suggest features, etc.
Click on my www button to see my site, nav to 'gallery' to see how I have PP installed, then nav to 'forum' to see how it resembles my vB implementation. Ideally I'd like a fully functional vB subforum that can be set to be a gallery (display thumbnails, etc.) yet retain all the vB features.
My only concern is that the vB3 CMS might include one already (or make one much easier to do).
