How can I make it so the new post indicators on the forum home page shut off once the forum is visited? Even if they don't read all the new posts within the forum, it would shut off once the forum with new posts is visited.

Lowering the cookie timeout limit could be an option.
They could also hit the mark posts as read before they leave, which would be the most practical ;)
