I've installed this hack from day one, and it has been working 100% since. :) All it needs are buttons that stay down when pressed. ;)

The script auto-detects which browser you're using, and if you're not on a browser that supports it (everything except IE), then it will just switch to the default display.

yeh i just installed the hack on Vb2.3 release candidate 3 yes Erwin i did, it i updated from 2.3release one just for the image verification :D
lol i deleted my whole forum and then used my backup database after adding all my old hacks again
wasn;t too bad actually cuz all the templates were done

anyway to the point it would be good if the buttons did stay stuck down

I love this hack. Makes me happier waiting for v3 to come out.

One question though, I noticed when you edit a message it doesn't display the message in WYSIWIG.. it puts all the codes in.. is it possible to have it translate an edited message into WYSIWIG?

DirectPixel
03-20-2003, 09:41 PM
For that, just apply the same template modifications for newreply in editthread

u mean newreply.php ??? i dont recall doing any template CHANGES....

can you provide a bit more details on this?

thanks :)

Okay, let me explain this a bit better I think I might have said this wrong.

In edit message the WYSIWYG editor does come up just fine but the actual text inside doesn't translate the HTML codes into WYSIWYG.

I have the same problem when editing a post i see normal VB code and not the WYSIWYG. see pic. . .

Also in the more smilies window; When a smile is clicked it does not add it to the post.

Other than that This hack ROCKS!!!

2) Allow use of the editor by usergroup?

this is probably not the best way to do this but Iwas thinking the same thing. Perhaps have a Style that is available only to a certain usergroup and add the templates to that style and that style only. Then they would have the ability to use it if they wanted to.

Just a idea if anyone can do this better (and i am sure you can) please let me know!!

sucessfully installed thx for the author !:d!

but how do i do the 9th step

9. To reduce the ues of extra queries, its always good to add the custom templates to the $templatesused = "" list.
1. In newthread.php, find:
-----
$templatesused = "newpost_postpreview,
-----

Replace it with this:
-----
$templatesused = "newpost_postpreview, newthread_wysiwyg,
-----

2. In newreply.php, find:
-----
$templatesused = "quotereply,
-----

Replace it with this:
-----
$templatesused = "quotereply, newreply_wysiwyg,
-----

3. In editpost.php, find:
-----
$templatesused="forumrules,
-----

Replace it with this:
-----
$templatesused="forumrules, editpost_wysiwyg

cheerz

I installed this hack on 2.3.0 without a single problem.

However, I see you miss out on some functionality with this. Is it possible to add some of the missing functions such as inserting images, php code, quotes, etc.?

I also don't like that the submit new thread/preview new thread buttons display submit new post/preview new post even if you are creating a thread.

Thanks!

Oh.. and the install.txt tells you to create a folder called "toolbars" instead of the correct name of "toolbar". In addition, it makes no mention of placing the vbcode.js anywhere.

Yeah the directions should be edited... Had no problem figuring out the toolbar mis-naming but, did forget all about the vbcode.js when I upped it all and tested..

The minor template changes towards the end of install.txt should also be bundled with the initial template changes.

Thanks! Those are all just template modifications. If you want to add in or take away a button, just delete that portion of the code from the template.

Oh, I'm sure they are just template modifications. However if I knew how to code, I wouldn?t have asked. ;) Could anyone tell me what code to add and where? I'm sure SOMEONE that installed this hack added the Image, Code, Quote, etc. buttons.

DirectPixel

Add <table width="100%"><tr><td> to the end of your header

Add </td></tr></table> to the beginning of your footer.

See if that helps.

xpguy
07-07-2003, 05:12 PM
how come not all the things are added like image etc i counted 5 things not added :s

Center Alignment
Image
Left Alignment
Right Alignment
Save

what about a quote/code one?

these would all be handy as it looks like it misses something, also when you click a smilie you get a error :S, otherwise im very happy with it :)

DirectPixel
07-15-2003, 02:41 PM
If you want this in PMs, just copy & paste the WYSIWYG part from the reply or new thread pages to your PM page.:)

Erwin
07-15-2003, 10:44 PM
No, you can't just copy and paste the WYSIWYG parts - some variables need to be changed to.

When I have time I will attach my PM template for you guys here for vB2 - I don't use it anymore since I've gone to vB3. :)

Erwin
07-15-2003, 11:00 PM
Here they are:

PM templates for WYSIWYG:

1) priv_sendprivmsg

Erwin
07-15-2003, 11:01 PM
2) priv_forwardmultiple

Erwin
07-15-2003, 11:02 PM
3) priv_sendtobuddies

Erwin
07-15-2003, 11:05 PM
Remember, you name the new templates the same as the text files, then you edit private.php and private2.php to detect and choose between the normal template and the WYSIWYG template - I am going to assume you know how to do this - same principles as newreply.php and newthread.php.

You can edit the background color via CSS. Just define a class for the WYSIWYG area, and modify the corresponding colors in your stylesheet.:)

I don't believe automatic wrapping is possible with the current way it's set up. It'll require extra Javascript code to get it do to that.

*super bump*

I really hate to ask, but has anybody got this to work in Firefox 1.0.1? I heard it worked in the pre 1.0 versions but then broke in 1.0

Also, if not, is there a way to pull the WYSIWYG editor from VB3 and put it into VB2?
