Hello Guys and Gals;

I just completed my VB board and installed several or should I say many hacks, and I am just starting to realize the potential of VB. I would like to website to have the same look and feel as our Message Board.

Know I looked at VBhome(lite), VBindex, PHPportals and I am very confused ? I don?t know which one to use? Our website is a Clan site, so the main update our done to the main frontpage, results page and members page and I like the download portion that I believe comes with PHPportals.

The rest of the pages are pretty much static and never change.

I would like the ability to have a mini calander display on our home page, poll option; news updated via a new forums, whois online, whois in chat, welcome panel but I don?t want to lose the ability to install some of the great hacks on this MB and the ones the will be released in the future..

The people of this message board have way much more experience than I do, what do you recommend I do? What approach should I take?

This is our website, take and look and also look at the forums section, we are a big squad and expanding into more games and I need to have one central look for all game our clan undertakes.

Any and all help would be very much appreciated at this point as I am severely lost !

Please Help ! :bunny:

you more likely want vBportal (or PHPportal) cuz it's more powerfull then the other 2....but confusing to install...you need to know how to install it correctly, tho...if you want to make one yourself, just include the forums/global.php file....but I would recommand vBportal tell you make your own page that's imagrated with your board.

Thank-you for the response, I tried VBindex last night but was getting many webqueries.

NTLDR

Cutting Down Queries:

To cut down the number of queries on a page you need to remove some of the functions within the php file, the fuctions that can be removed in order to reduce the total number of queries are:

News
New PM's
New Posts/Threads
Poll

If all of the fuctions are not used or needed the code can be removed or commented out in order to reduce the number of queries.

To get vBindex running in the root directory you need to add:

chdir('./forums');

Assuming its in a directory called forums right above:

require('./global.php');
