My fellow hackers, :)
It is time that vBulletin.org gets a new, dandy slogan, so here's another contest for you.
If you have some good ideas, send them to me by PM or email (slogans@vbulletin.org). The best idea would be vB.org's new slogan, and the submitter will get to see (and use!) the new upcoming style before everyone else!
Sounds good? Start sending them slogans! You can send more than one, so the more the merrier. :)

I would personally love to see the design before anyone else, vBulletin.org is one of the websites I visit daily, seeing a new style added would bring forth more enjoyment :).
Sorry to be the one to ask this yet again, I have read the above, I am just cusrious as to how long this contest will last. If not an exact date, how about a guess? :)

I don't know when the style will be ready, so I really can't say. At least a week and a half, that's for sure.

would it ever be possible to give away a vB license through a contest or random drawings? i could really use one of my own.
btw before people start saying im using illegal account, i dont have my own site i do all the hacking on a legal site.

I am not sure something like that would be given away as it does cost, showing a style to the winner of this "contest", however, does not.
Sinecure gave away a leased license a while back at PixelJunction, but that is the only giveaway for vBulletin I knew of.

not just you ;)
well, macfora is getting every month a design. in the last 3 months i saw 3 new style versions released to it.
that's to bad none of them could make it to vb.org.
it's in the designer's interest to take the best decission, after all.
however, i doubt there will be a new style released, just as i doubted 6months ago that vBulletin 3 will be released in 3 month, as most of the devs were talking...
good luck with your projects guys.
unfortunatelly i see vb.org slowly dieing of good people. is not at all what it used to be 1 year ago when i joined.
FireFly hardly posts. PPN also. the devs never say a word here, it makes me feel the is a forbidden teritory for them...
all the good hackers dissapeared. and little kids are trying to tough out with so called "hacks". freddie was right when it was saying: "your hacks are worthless" to those who used to race the "one ton hacks" released fever... with crappy code into it, bad conditions and all sort of terrible mistakes.
anyway, i'm sad. really. i miss all the good people who used to yell at me because i have a big romanian mouth. i miss my friends who all dissapeared from my side, here in this little universe where i made some good friends.
this is my 1755th post. and trust me in the last 3 months i hardly made 100 of them here.
so, Xenon, Mist is not the only one walking away.
a while ago, when i used to enter the main page, it was firefly's name like that, not mines. i simply helt like posting today...

This site is not dying. I'm not posting so regulary, that's not a secret, but there are 21,136 others who do.

09-21-2002, 03:23 PM
well, one year ago i didn't post very much, i was just here to download hacks.
now it's different ;)
also i think you cannot compare it that way: one year ago the site opens, there were rare hacks out there...
now there are many hacks around, it's not so easy to find new ones, but i think that'll change when(ever) vb3 comes out.
but as you said some users dissappear, some new come here, is the normalest thing on a board..
Ok, i also hope Chen will have more time in future to post here more often again ;)

i do agree with floren on this one...
i myself am not wonderful with php coding... templates and style are my forté... but i come here everyday as part of the community....
most people just use this place for hacks... like i once did... but we need people releasing the good hacks and not selling them... otherwise there's no point to vbulletin.org ...

I too love the community here. The Lounge is actually my favorite forum, not Final Releases. :)

thank you all for the nice comments.
but my point is this:
WE NEED THAT PEOPLE GET INVOLVED AND PARTICIPATE.
what is that means? let me give you an example. molinari and firefly came up with the hack of the month, wich was a marvelous idea...
they posted, hacked and packed, got the thinks up and running. and the results?
people didnt give a shit about it, only few of them posted once in a while.. they used to strugle to get 5 hacks nominated...
at 20,000members, that's inadmisible.
so you bet they drop it, and dont care anymore... why bother if people dont vote? huh?? you tell me.
hey, if all you want (you lazy people, you know who you are) is just hacks, hell let's remove all the forums and make one single one, where all the hacks are there...
those guys work their asses of to make you happy and all you do is just sit there and not even bother to click on a vote button, or install one.
i look at some of the hacks being downloaded over 4000times with the install button clicked for about 700 times.
shame on you!!!!
it looks to me that once you downloaded and installed the hack, you dont give a crap anymore... well i have the hack nice and dandy.. it's werkin'... i'm cool. do you know that this little "moron", who made the hack, spent time so that your lazy spirit can install it?????
that's one of the aspects... there are many more to develop.. but i dont feel like... is hard for you to understand...
the point is this:
only because lazy people, who dont care about the community, that are here only to load their boards at max with hacks, the good people leave.
that's all i have to say. rest assured that i will get involved again like before when everyone wakes up and realises that is their fault because it's going this way... and i referr to the people mentioned above several times...
not to the few who still help and put heart onto their work.
i wanna see new things comming up.. i wanna see people comming up with cool ideas to stimulate the the admins and moderators... but now, is hard.
ya i do have a big mouth when i get angry, the old school here at vb.org knows this...

I agree with you, I was one of those people that didn't ++++ about people who made the hacks, I just downloaded, and installed, and didn't turn back, but that day when I asked for support, firefly, nakkid, xenon and others including logicien helped me and when it didn't work they gave other suggestions, thats when I have been posting more actively I encourage everyone to buy vbulletin and go to vbulletin.org I tell peopel that its a great community, not just for vbhacks, but for tutorials, chating, and fun.
I now make hacks, though I just started getting more active in releasing hacks, I want to recontribute to the people, mostly the people that had made hacks that Ive used in the past.
Anyways, I plan to post more activly, vote, click install, give feedback, and more. I have been doing this alot, though school is stopping me from doing so, I will continue to contribute, because I really do not want to see vbulletin.org become a place with no fun, and no one period.
Also if you notice the online bars, you see that 72 are online, and 235 or so have been online that day, and yous see only 7 new posts.
What I see is, people downloadings hacks, installing and just leaving without giving thanks, or installing, but when they run into trouble they then come running to vbulletin.org asking for help...begging for help.
Anyways, just my thoughts, I have felt this for awhile latly, but hadn't really put much thought into voicing it.
I hope to see changes, and also All the contributions from mods and Admins has been great, even if they start to quit on this community, I will never blame them.

Hi. Here's my two cents. Whenever I came onto a 'help' board, I felt like there were two groups of people. The people who were there for help and the people who knew what the heck they were doing and were there to give advice.
Whenever I 'peeked' into the lounge, it was almost always the same thing. I had a feeling as though I stumbled upon their private chat room. I know that sounds silly, but it was my immediate reaction. When I asked for help, I got it and that was it. Straight to the point, no 'hi, how are yas'.
When I came to the VB community, I noticed some differences. People were friendly. It wasn't tabboo to say hello. The ones who had attitude problems were still helpful. I got help until my problem was solved, not just one answer.
When VB 'split' the hacks section I was concerned that it was going to fall into that 'you don't belong here anymore' attitude. Luckily, that hasn't really happened. I've grown to enjoy coming here, and reading the different sections.
You want a true community? One, why is vb.com considered 'separate'? I always thought it was one big community, just specialized in peoples' needs. I've met some wonderful people on this board and look forward to meeting more. Even if I can't help, I at least try. I may not jump in and thank someone for a hack, but I click the 'Installed' button to show my thanks and approval. Firefly has been wonderful. He's always offering help. Boofo made me realize that this is more than just a support site, that there are friends to be made and conversations and debates to enjoy. =)
Anyway, that's my two cents... and then some.

so true... i currently don't have a homepage so this is mine for the time being... and i dunno i feel different then i used to... don't get me wrong this place is great... i've learned alot... but about the non-participation point... you can't make them participate... you could put on a post limit before downloading hacks but thats absurd :p more or less when i make hacks its a great experience... yet when some members (kids or not or whatever you want to call them) say nice work or thanks... it makes a hacking experience even better... i don't care if they click install or not... (don't get me wrong its a great system) but id rather have them reply in the thread with some feedback... this community is great but i think i need some time away ;\ thanks to everyone who's made my stay a great experience so far :) regards...
