Is it possible to get the photoshop files (.psd) of the standard vbulletin buttons as a registered user? Obviously my interest is in creating a customized site.

Yes, this is available as a zip file to licensed customers. They can download it from the Members Area at vbulletin.com. However they cannot distribute the PSD files to anyone else.
