Do you know how much Photoshop 7 costs?
If you are upgrading form 6.0 it will cost you 149 USD and if you are buying it outright, 609 USD (for a limited time). :)

You can make button sets in many different graphics programs, Photoshop & Fireworks being the main two that I have seen used. It really is a matter of preference of the one creating them in the long run (I prefer and use Photoshop 7.0 myself).
As for vButton, it only works with Photoshop 6.0 & 6.01. Delhaze did mention attempting making a working version in a thread over at vBulletin.com, but nothing has been said since.

When will PC's learn, there is no room for the two of us. :p Stick to admin, word processing and grandmas basement.
Mac O/S is for graphics...
eeerrrrrrrrrrr :ogre:
Is there a version for the ever friendly Mac O/S. Not O/S X but O/S 9.1.
Anyone.... anyone... what a shame...:ermm:

vButton was taken offline as DelHaze needed the server it was running on for another use. As for the Visual Basic version that you can run in Windows, it only works with Photoshop 6.0 & 6.01, sad to say it does not work with 7.0 (although if you have both 6.0 & 7.0 installed, it will seem as thought it works with 7.0, when indeed it does not :)).

the $ spent on photoshop takes no time at all to pay for itself. I don't know about you, but my time is worth $ and the many hours saved with this program, even just saving my sanity is well worth it. I'm sure you'd agree

I m Professional Graphic/3D art, so I have Photoshop 7, Painter 7, Fireworks MX and CorelDraw 10. But of course I prefer Photoshop better than others (biased =P)
But members at my forum have good suggests on some cheap but power programs that can do some or many that Photoshop or high end programs can do with button graphics. These programs are basic but powerful in some area. So here s my members' suggests (also I tried some of these, it is great but I m Photoshop freak/loyal =)
'non-expensive' programs:
3DWebButton 1.7 (http://www.rudenko.com/3dwb.html)
Banner Maker Pro (http://www.bannermakerpro.com/)
Button Factory (http://www.trellian.com)
CoffeeCup Button Factory Version 6.1 (http://www.coffeecup.com/java/button/)
Button Studio 1.44 (http://www.interkodex.com/default.asp?page=buttonstudio/info)
ButtonFly 2.0 (http://www.goto-software.com/US/export/bh/bh-export.asp)
My members was blabbing too much about this product also it does look good to me, I m right now thinking of buy this product for productivity if need. *Con* it is mighty slow but it is good button maker program anyway.
These are good for buttons or some small or simple web graphics, if you want to do more than just gradients or need more control then buy Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro
Hope it will help you somewhat =)

If you still need buttons, I will be willing to make them for you provided you give me your colors and I will just run them through vbutton and up them to my site for ya. Also, you might want to try see if this is in your budget... http://www.academicsuperstore.com/?sourcecode=lcg&promocode=school

Is there a way to get a copy of vbutton or was that a commercial program (paid for)? I'd like to mess with it. :)

It is free but it requires Photoshop 6 or 7 to ulitize, it is nice add-on for Photoshop but I rather to use PS anyway.
Here it is at vb.com
Photoshop 6

If you want a good pixel-like program, try Fireworks. I use Adobe 6, and it is the best program out there in my opinion.
