Fine my bad... if it was made whats the url to the hack? From now on i'll just keep to myself and not help requests... so much negativity... if thats how you want this community to be then fine...

See Lucrecia's file attached below for info on glow...

Sounds great, I'll have to give it a try. Anyway to make it so a user can only choose specified colors by the admin, like I would allow only colors that would not blend in with certain styles.

hmm... im sure its possible Velocd i'll have to look into something of the sort ;) shouldn't be too hard though... just i'd think more editing of files/templates :p

Heh, sorry for double posting, but I noticed your hack is in .php format yet the content inside isn't PHP code, you probably might want to change it to a regular text document ^_^

yeah i know Velocd but i don't think that it really matters ;) i write text files up in .php formats thought it includes no php doesn't really cause any harm i doubt... still learning anyways ;)

not to my knowledge... sure you can alter all user colors but this lets the users choose what color they what... also maybe you're thinking of the font color in the postbit? Also i've seen tons of requests for it anyways... so if it was made sorry ;)

What color for the glow and font did you use the get that effect on this picture (in post #20)? And what font did you use? I like where the letters show through the glow so well.

That person used Black for his font and Aqua for his glow color. He didn't use Hexes for it.

can you turn off the glow if no glow color is specified by the user?

Just a quick question...

Why the Hex code?

Why not just a simple "blue" or "red" command, like with the "Display custom titles AND standard titles in posts" hack?

Is there a way, that Users can decide between glowing an no glowing??

Mithan

Few questions:

1. How do I modify my Forum Display Templates to show colored names in the "Started by" and "last post by" fields?

2. Is there a way to set a defaul glow color in the field? I was thinking of making it so that regular posters only get too choose a color, and Mods could get a Glow if they wanted.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, they could turn the glow color to the Backgoundcolor...

But it would be cool if you just could click it of.

gforce2001 don't sweat it man. You worked hard on this hack, even if it was already done. Some people just forget that all of us aren't elite vbulletin hackers and they jump at the chance to make others look bad. Good job on the hack bro. ;)

Agree'd!

I want this to be an ADMIN only option. I don't want my users changing their own colors. Any tips?

Lucrecia
06-14-2002, 10:22 PM
You can set the option for user's to select to no, and have Admins put it in in the cp. and then just change the glow colors for the members to the same color as the bg color so they won't glow. Until someone hacks a better way that's all I can say.

Try running this query? maybe it'll fix the prob?

ALTER TABLE userfield ADD field5 varchar(250) NOT NULL DEFAULT '#000000'

see if that works...

For each Style set using this addon, make two replacements:

For the Username Text

color="">
is replaced by
color="{usernametextcolor}">

For the Username Glow

filter:GLOW(color=,strength=4)
is replaced by
filter:GLOW(color={usernameglowcolor},strength=4)

Change {usernametextcolor} and {usernameglowcolor} to whatever you like.

Simple as that. Tested on my own boards, and works a treat.
Top addon, BTW. My members love it :D

Any ideas on how to implement this anywhere you want, like in the Memberlist and Who's Online, for example?

As far as I know, I need to call the profile fields up using the getinfo function... but I dunno how, as I'm a hopeless n00b.

g-force2k2
08-21-2002, 02:24 AM
ScruffyDeluxe maybe try $userinfo[fieldXX] XX being the field that the colors are ;)

Harder than it sounds... vB doesn't need to call up these parts of a users' profile, so I need to make online.php and member.php get these values. That's what I'm stuck on :-\

g-force2k2
08-22-2002, 01:14 AM
well ScruffyDeluxe you can always call the query...

to select the userfield data... but im not sure exact the query but i will look into it for you if you like ;)

Whoops, got it working in the memberlist by adding the table from the postbit template to memberlist_bit, and changing $post to $userinfo. :)

Hi

I tried installing this on my forums, as i think it looks cool. The problem is similar to a previous post, but I dont understand how to correct it, new at PHP.

It works fine, but the default GLOW is a nasty colour. Is there any way to make it, so if the fields are blank, the standard font applies? if not, what can I do?

This time, change {usernameglowcolor} in my example to $ post[backcolor] (remove space after $)

Probably not the best solution; more a bodge... but I'm certain it'll work.

Also, try viewing the HTML source of the finished showthread page. Look at the code for the glow and you'll see it is not complete for users who have not specified colours.
It should be possible to make a replacement for this that puts the username text in a plain table.

Would I just add the html into the profile field, or what?

a great little addition to this is using it in conjunction with

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21833&perpage=15&highlight=default%20profile%20values&display=&pagenumber=1

It means your users do not have to memorise hex codes and this avoids problems such as them typing in bogus colour names such as BuggerGreen and TurdBrown.

G-force...

Thank you for posting this useful informaton...

It works great on my 2.3.4 forum (I haven't upgraded because I have lots of hacks that I like on it)...

I am wondering how you can make the usernames color in the forum display (and homepage display)?

I found the template names, but I can't find the string name that will call up the text color profile template...

(I believe that I already tried to use $userinfo[], and it didn't work...)

I would appreciate any ideas...

Thanks,

Khashyar

Also....

Did anyone figure out how to make the GLOW color default at the forum row background color until someone selects a color???

Would that be done in the edit profile page ???

Thanks,

Khashyar
