<i>If this is the wrong forum, I apologize, please move it</i>
I'm interested in someone doing the following :
A Modified trouble ticket system in a sense.
I need to be able to submit N number of types of tickets but 3 at the moment. (Need a system to enable easy adding of more ticket types).
Once a ticket is submitted I need to it to send a Private Message to multiple users. A comma delimted list of user id's at the top of the file will be fine. What would be even better would be able to have a graphical way to set this up.
I also need this to post the contents of this trouble ticket to a forum (forum id will be at the top of the script and will depend on the trouble ticket type). i.e. Architectural Review - $ar_forum=3, etc.
Once submitted I would like the user to be able to go to the same link (lets call it - "Submit a Request") and view their "Open" requests.
Also, need some kind of management console of sorts where anyone that is a member of certain usergroup(s) can view all tickets and add comments such as changing the status from : new, in process, awaiting vote, denied, approved, closed, etc. There should also be a comments field so that the user can see why something was denied if it was denied.
Flow of Screens :
User comes in and it has 4 choices (at the moment)
-Submit an Architectural Review
-Submit a Maintenance Request
-Submit a Landscaping Request
-View All Your Requests
So, this is a brief synopsis , If anyone is interested please email me and we can talk a little more about it. I'm not rich but I can pay, please email me to discuss the price.
Thanks,
Josh

Anyone have any thoughts on this? I'm willing to pay via paypal if your interested.
It's a very request feature of the site and I would love to get it complete.
I've attached a detailed description of what I'm looking for, I would appreciate a PM or an Email letting me know if you can do this and how much you would charge.
Thanks
Josh

$100 for this huge system?
JoshFink

Is it huge? I didn't know. I also didn't know what to pay so I just threw out a number. You're one of the few to respond, what you would consider is a reasonable price for this amount of work?
Thanks

It's a pretty big system, yes. Not something you whip up in 4 hours.
I am not interested and haven't read the whole file thoroughly, but I don't think anyone will do this for you for $100.

If $100 is too little, that's fine I'm just trying to find someone that can do the work and give me an estimate for time and such.
Thanks for the reply though

Why don't you use an already made support system? There's Chrid Padfield's excellent DeskPRO (www.deskpro.com).

I never new about DeskPro. I will have to check it out and see if it meets my needs.
Thanks for the link.
Josh
Edit : Ok.. realized why it won't work.. It's $795 .. Wow..

It would cost more for someone to create one for you...

So, your saying that I should expect to pay $795 or more for this "hack"? I find that a little hard to believe, but it's your opinion and you have a right to it.
I've seen hacks on here that are a lot more involved that are free, I can understand, $100, $200 and maybe even maybe $300 but $800 , I think that's a little excessive. Of course, this is just my opinion as well.
Thanks Though

People are paying a lot for hacks, trust me, I know.
Let's say you asked someone to code vBulletin for you. That someone will charge a whole lot more than than $160, because it's a one-time job and the person is not going to sell it to anyone else.
DeskPRO is a commerical product so it's relatively cheap (if you think about the time it takes to create it), and it's the same with vBulletin.
That's why you should only hire someone if you think you won't find what you're looking for anywhere else, something so unique no one else has done before.

I totally agree with you that it is much cheaper when someone can spread the cost of development out over many different people.
But... I still think $800 for a support ticket hack is a little much. Honestly if I knew just a little bit more I could probably do it, which is most likely what I will do as I can't afford $800 at all for a support system.
Another problem I have is that I plan to spread this support system out over a couple different sites (i.e. Installing it on a couple different sites not sharing of a support ticket database) and it would be VERY cost prohibitive for me to pay $800 for a license for each site.
Thanks for all your posts though. I really wish I could have found someone to do something like this as I'm sure it would have been a great addon.

As quoted from your txt file:
?Also, I would like to keep this hack to myself. Meaning I would feel better if it wasn?t released publicly on vb.org.
This would drive the price up as well as the developer wouldn't be able to sell it to anyone else based on his/her commitment to you and your site. Look around for a decent freeware script and work from that.
If you look around at the hacks on vb.org you will see bits and pieces you can adapt from these to add to the script to get it to work to your liking. You can also post here and we will help you work it out.

Thanks Dark Wizard.... I see what you mean. I'm going to get working on it as soon as I can. I'm really suprised that no one has implemented any kind of help ticket system at all though.

the one that I have can accomodate more than 25 simultaneous ones with low server load. try it here (http://www.haitiwebs.com/haitianforums)
it can initiate chat to any visitor surfing the site. I would love to be able to incorporate it in the buddy list for Instant Message.

To be honest, the issue with the support system is not really a support kind of thing. Basically my site is a Neighborhood website so if someone wants to make a maintenance request right now they have to fill out paperwork, submit it, wait for a response, that kind of thing.
I would like to automate the whole process where they can fill out the form. The system will save the form and they can look up their status and see how it's going.
Thanks for the link though,
Josh
PS.. Just out of curiousity who is that live support through and how much does it cost?

You can have a forum where users can only see their own threads, will that help?

That's actually what I am doing in the meantime. It's a nice and simple approach it's just not what I want to eventually get to.
If the forum had a way for them to have to enter certain fields. That would be better. Kind of like if you need to make a post in a certain forum it has 10 fields you have to fill in to finish the post or something like that.
Thanks though... That's why I like this forum, whilst you might not always be able to get what you're looking for exactly people are willing to help most of the time.
