Well i dunno about other people but on my forums i have a lot of people who have registered and have not posted once, would it be possible to make a hack which will send an email everyday or everyweek (or a different given time) to people who have been inactive for over 2 weeks, so if a member has joined but hasen't posted in 2 weeks en email gets sent to him everyday till he posts or he PMs for his account to be deleted, it may seem pretty cruel but it's very annoying when this stuff happens and people shouldn't sign up if they arn't gonna post once

I think that would have to be classified as spam. I'm sure even if they got the message, they would return to the forum to vent their frustrations rather than contributing. Just my 2 cents though :D

perhaps, but if they get annoyed, they can get their account deleted, and no more emails for them, i remember seeing a YaBB forum once with this feature, in the email it had a link to the boards telling them that they can either post and stop the emails coming, or dlete their account using the lnik provided

Warning them (for a few times only), then automatically delete them can be a good idea. If someone else doesnt create the hack, I have intention to code it in the long run..(I have other priorities sorry!)
But I think bothering them or forcing them to post is not a good idea at all. You may end up deleting unnecessary/unwanted/spam/off-topic/flamed messages of pissed members which will cause you more trouble and require more time to delete non-poster accounts manually anyway.. My 2 cents..

that would suck indeed, is it possible to cancel a membership?

Currently no, but there where hacks for vB 2 and im sure there will be hacks for vB 3 that will allow you to do it.

If anything maybe a hack that sends members a e-mail after 4 months of inactivity to re-invite them back to the site. Maybe another hack that turns their username into "Guest Account" so that someone else can use the user name after a year or so.
