hmm, kurafire has written an newsscript which can help you in the release forum.
or you can chage a few things in my own newsscript:
require('./global.php');
$news = $DB_site->query("SELECT thread.title, thread.threadid, thread.iconid, thread.postusername, thread.replycount FROM thread WHERE thread.forumid = 10 ORDER BY thread.threadid DESC LIMIT 5");
print("<table width='95%' align='center' cellspacing=0>");
while($new=$DB_site->fetch_array($news)) {
$newstext=$DB_site->query_first("
SELECT post.pagetext, post.dateline FROM post
WHERE post.threadid='$new[threadid]'
ORDER BY postid LIMIT 1
");
this was the part where it gets the threads and the info of the first post of a thread. just change the forum id, and it should work :).
perhaps you must edit a few more variables, but i don't say i'll be perfect, just a hint how to do it
here comes the design part
print("<tr>");
print("<th class='head' align='left' bgcolor='#".$headcolor."'><font size=1>".date("d.m.Y - H:i:",$newstext[dateline])."</font><br>".$new[title]."</th>");
print("<th class='head' align='right' bgcolor='#".$headcolor."'>".$new[postusername]."<br><font size=1><a href='http://www.strategy-forum.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=".$new[threadid]."'>Kommentare(".$new[replycount].")</a></font></th></tr>");
print("<tr></tr><tr><td class=news colspan='2' bgcolor='#".$newscolor."'>".bbcodeparse2($newstext[pagetext],1,1,1,1)."</td>");
print("</tr><tr><td height=5></td></tr>");
}
print("</table>");

ok, in the fantasypart, you have to edit the colors
the text is ok:
"
19.05.2002 - 10:23:
A movie before it's time... Fin Gonn Hoam
Kommentare(0)
Dune was a movie made before it's time... it went beyond the realms of movies of it's era, and thus was relatively unsuccessful. Comments?
"
and scifi.php i don't see the failure, sure the two files are equal (just the forums are different)

do you use the include-commando to include the scifi.php?
if yes, try to outcomment
require("./global.php");
in scifi.php

print("<tr>");
print("<th class='head' align='left' bgcolor='#".$headcolor."'><font size=1>".date("d.m.Y - H:i:",$newstext[dateline])."</font><br>".$new[title]."</th>");
print("<th class='head' align='right' bgcolor='#".$headcolor."'>".$new[postusername]."<br><font size=1><a href='http://www.strategy-forum.de/showthread.php?s=&threadid=".$new[threadid]."'>Kommentare(".$new[replycount].")</a></font></th></tr>");
print("<tr></tr><tr><td class=news colspan='2' bgcolor='#".$newscolor."'>".bbcodeparse2($newstext[pagetext],1,1,1,1)."</td>");
print("</tr><tr><td height=5></td></tr>");
}
print("</table>");
these lines are the design-lines, they just fit in my site, edit them like you need it. You just need the variables ;)
