View Full Version : More restrictive permissions for "other" admins

I think assigning another admin to a forum is a great idea, if its somebody you can really really trust, because they can help you work on the forums and add-hacks, etc. but my only problem is when you do assign an admin, there are no permissions against what he can or can't do in the admin cp. Is there a hack out there already that assigns permissions to a second admin of what he can/can't do in the admin cp? For example, I really don't want my admin to have access to the vbulletin options page, or the users lists, and restrictive options too. Like I don't want my admin to be able to drop templates or template sets, to drop styles, or to drop forums, stuff like that. You could set these permissions by first creating a new usergroup for the admin, and in the modifications page allow them access to the admin cp. But in the same page in the section where the option "allow access to the admin cp' is there could be other permissions like the ones I mentioned above. This would be a great hack if not already made :p

i don't know a hack, which would do all these things, but i have made something, on the same way.
all my secondary admins are supermods, i dont have any other supermods, so i made a copy of the admin folder named it supermod, and there i killed all files to which they shouldnt have access. then change the global.php to just allow supermods to go to this pages.
i also copied the user.php from the mod folder, so they have the same rights like other mods on the users.
its not realy hard to make such a hack for yourself, you just must know which scripts you'll allow your co-admins ;)
but i don't think someone has released such a hack, because every admin wants to give his coadmins other privileges ;)
hope this could help you :)

that is defiantly an innovative idea, but alittle redundant. I'm sure somebody out there could make permission radio boxes inside the Admin CP for setting specific admin-permissions making it much easier, instead of having to go through multiple steps. Come on, the idea is great :D

Great idea...
Anyone accomplished it yet?
