Hi there,
A lot of my users go to the test forum and upload an image. They then get the attatch.php based URL to that image and sling it in their signature.
This has got to bad I think around 50% of my users do it.
Instead of just deleting the posts in the Test forum regularly, I want to find a solution tot his, not a fix.
Can anyone come up with the code that would stop people doing this?
Would this code generate more queries to the database than the attatched images themselves?
I would love to hear what you have to say!
Cheers,

I take it this is impossible to do?

Turn off the possibility of using [img]-tags and html in signatures...
Go to Posting Allowances in your admin CP

OK
Maybe I didn't explain this very well. either that or I come across as a real idiot.
I want my users to be able to use images in their signature. I just DO NOT want them using an image that they have attached, as this loads the server more.
Am I writing this in greek?

No, you're not writing it in greek - but it helped when you clarified what you wanted.
I would think it's doable, but I have to look at it after work.

Nice one. Sorry for the lack of clear explanation. I spend most my time translating technical jargon into easy speak. Doing it the other way round isn't easy ;)

Don't allow html in sigs and don't allow dynamic url for images in your admin control panel.

I don't allow html in sigs, they use the URL code.
The second option sounds fine, however this excludes people using printroom etc.
Hmmph...

Then make attachment.php a banned word on your forum, I think that will also remove it from [img] codes.

I wouldn't call this a clean hack, more like a dirty bodge.
Banning attatchment.php would stop people using the images in posts. I just want to stop it in signatures.
Oh FireFly, where art thou!

That's what we do :) And we also have a little tutorial where we tell our users how to upload their sig to YourSigHost (http://www.yoursighost.com).
It works :)
However, we would love to have a hack that let's you specify the max img size that can be used in a sig :)
