View Full Version : E-Mail Notification on Moderator Queue?

Hi,
My board is set up to have one group of users who can post and reply without moderator approval, and another group (as well as guests) who must get moderator validation for each post.
It would be really useful if the Administrators got e-mail messages every time a post went into the queue awaiting validation.
Thanks.

Although a hack is possible, it would somewhat duplicate a default vBulletin feature. Before I'd hack my system, I'd give the following a try:
For each user who wants to be notified, add that email address to one of both of the following fields in the forum's properties. The fields are located under "Moderation properties."
Emails addresses to notify when there is a new post
Emails addresses to notify when there is a new thread
Of course, you may have 50 forums to apply this to for all I know.
This isn't a great alternative. For one, you'll receive emails where the URL will produce an "invalid threadid" message.

If there is a moderation required message, admin gets a PM:

Maybe you can use it..

Hi,
I think I need to clarify my situation a little. I have a small number of forums - typically only 4 active - so the number of forums isn't an issue for me. I have a hack installed that lets Members post without moderator approval, and they acccount for 95+ percent of the posts. Guests and new members require approval of all posts - this is to keep the trolls off. Once a new member satisfies me that he's not a jerk, I make him a regular Member.
I don't want an e-mail every time someone posts a message, which is, I think, the default system in the software. I do want one when a message enters the moderator queue, so that I don't have to keep checking it.
The PM option would notify me, but that means checking my PM box fairly often - not much less trouble than checking the moderator queue. My e-mail rings a bell and displays a desktop icon every time a new e-mail message arrives, so this would be ideal.
Any help would be appreciated. I do, of course, appreciate the fact that people have responded with suggestions.
Thanks,
Steve Price

The hack I mentioned above can easily be adapted to your needs. ;) Like that:

CODE REMOVED
If you need it, find it here:

Hi Logician,
This look like exactly what I am looking for. Please forgive my lack of sophistication, but I have a question before I start editing files:
Can I use it to send e-mail to two administrators instead of just to one? If so, how? Do I just put both e-mail addresses in the same line, separated by a space or a semicolon, or do I put the whole thing in twice?
Many thanks for your help.

Hi,
I tried the hack, and it gives me an error message about parsing in both new reply and new thread modes. The error message refers to the following line in each of the two files:
$message1="Moderation Required for message ".$title":\n----------\n\n".$messsage;
Can you tell what the problem is from this? The line is cut and pasted from what I did.
Thanks.

Steve I've just coded the hack you need: Find it here plz: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?threadid=38083&goto=newpost
If you have any problems, tell me in that thread and I'll fix it.
BTW, yes, now you can set more than 1 Admin to be notified ;)

Hi
I've upgraded to v.3.7, and I really miss that useful hack. Do you have one that works in v3.7?
