Well seems everyone is getting on the band wagon, so here it is vbPortal Lite.001
A Raw beta mind you, not much time to test, so I'm hoping you guy's will test it out for me,
Instructions and Install procedure in the Zip
1st fix uploaded, it was missing some images...
2nd fix uploaded
1. Added, the remove liteinstall.php to the instructions.
2. The install program was inserting two copies of the search block. Fixed that, just run uninstall and then install again, or use phpmyadmin to delete the extra search block.
3. The Block admin is the new (unfinished) version for 3.0 and has a few bugs that I will work out. But it's functional.

It looks just like vbPortal, but without the overhead and frills. I don't have another copy of vbulletin to demo it.

If you check out http://www.phpportals.com you'll see where this comes from. Trust me it's a good one to install personally I use the full version but then I use alot of the extras. for an example check out http://www.martialartsplanet.com/ it's the full version.

So exactly what frills are missing? Is there some sort of feature list comparing the two versions so that we can decide which way we want to go?
Thanks. :)

When I get a little time I'll put together a list. It's rather large :D
This is basically a frontpage mini portal for vBulletin, but with moveable, optional columns and blocks, you can use all, none or anywhere in between. As well theres an optional left column in the forums.
It does not contain the PHPNuke addons of the full vbPortal, such as Weblinks, Banner Ads and Downloads etc...
It does install into the same directory of vbulletin where the full version does not (Yet :))

Here's an example of what I did with the full version: http://degster.com/midi/
There's a lot of features I'm not using so I'd imangine it's pretty close to the lite version.

The site I mention www.martialartsplanet.com is pretty much the full version with some extras for example our magazine bit uses the sections feature from the full version.

Noticed something here, when attaching a new script over the old as I did above to update the file. I had to rename the file and had to go thru the procedure twice for it to take effect.
Anyway...
I fixed a few boo's in the scripts...
1. Added, the remove install to the instructions.
2. The install program was inserting two copies of the search block. Fixed that, just run uninstall and then install again, or use phpmyadmin to delete the extrat block.
3. The Block admin is the new (unfinished) version for 3.0 and has a few bugs that I will work out, but their cosmetic and will be fixed.

It's at http://www.phpportals.com too large and support too extensive to post here. I just haven't contributed to the community here for a while and wanted to, so I came up with the lite version.

You can check out my site for another example of the full version at www.reefaquariumguide.com One of the best sites I have seen using this is www.sportbikeworld.com so check it out too. Not trying to turn this into an advertisement for the full version but it is excellent and wajones' and company have great support :)
I'm sure the new Lite version is going to be worth your time, and after you get it going you will see how great it is and want to get the full version too.

I use wajones' vbportal, and I can testify that it is a great product, that has the advantage of being modular as well.

I too can say that phpPortals is an excellent front end for vbulletin if your looking for something better than Nuke, with full integration with vbulletins database. The liteversion is ideal for users not requiring all the flak of the full.
Great job wajones, keep it coming.

I am testing this as well, but I got a blank screen. Hopefully I copied the file in the correct location.

Well, my registered members can see titles that are in a private moderator's forum...is there any way to bar this from happening...
I really like this hack, and I spent the last two days dressing it up...but that is unacceptable; I hope there is an easy solution! :)
