He's using vbgate, which from what I can see is a clone (or maybe it came first, I dunno) of vbportal. Lot's of info on the latter at www.phpportals.com, wajones' site.

Keep in mind it's a complete replacement for your site, not a hack to add to existing pages.

vbGate is just a name he gave to it, it's not something he downloaded.

i want to be able to post just the latest poll. i don't want vbportal.

doesn't anyone have a solution for this? just having the latest poll on vb-homepage?

Guys this seems quite inpractical to me.. If you drag the latest poll in to your non-vb webpage, any member can create a new poll and it will override yours (or have you disabled "create poll feature" for all your members??).

Besides in most of the boards, giving votes in polls is permitted to only registered members so publising the poll in a non-vb page (eg. main page) seems pointless since most of the visitors (non-members) will get the "no permission" page if they vote.

If you say that you set "everybody can vote" and "only admins can create polls" in your vb settings, then why do you need using vb polling system anyway? If this is the case, this means that you dont need vb features in your polls and any polling script will do the trick for you. :) There are plenty of free polling scripts around which you can use in your non-vb page..

Just my 0.2 cents.

Logician

i think you meant two cents, not one fifth of a cent :)

here's a hint for those who are interested: download vBindex and look at its code...it has a poll code by wajones in it

I want something like nick's ideea.
Just like in VBPortal u choose a forum for Poll's only and it displays the latest poll posted there.

hey!
i have managed to create something similar to vbportal but it's not well enough!!
it's pretty hard to think how to make the ALREADY VOTED thing.
i shall see what i can do.
ATM it can retrieve a poll from the DATABASE and u can vote in it.

How do i restrict the access to a CATEGORY only!? :tired:

All I would want is the Poll topic and these links:

Vote Now
View Results
Past Polls

which would link to the vbulletin threads.

This is quite an old thread. Try using one of the many portals for polls, among other features:)

Ok... I'll do more searching but I don't want a portal... just a way to pull the info above. Nothing else. I am already running a CMS that uses vbulletin's user database.
