Replacements

I am new to vB, and particularly new to hacking.

I just downloaded the instructions for adding the "Quick Reply Box" hack to my forum

It instructs me to take some text in showthread.php and replace it with something else. However, upon reviewing showthread.php, the text which is to be replaced isn't there together. The two lines are like 100 lines apart! I tried replacing everything in between, but that is evidently not what FireFly is looking for. What am I to replace?

Just search for portions of the code, and see if it is there, but minutely changed (ie: a ' or " in a different spot, etc). If you can find it that way, just replace that block of code with what is in the hack documentation.

No...the two lines he wants me to replace aren't together! They are line 100 lines APART. He has these two lines together as a section he wants me to replace, but I can't just replace those two lines, becuase they aren't in the same area...

Are you sure you are using the same version of vB that the hack was made for?
