How do I get total # of Threads for few forums and get total on non vb page? [Archive]

I think this should be fairly easy. I basically want to track how many threads were made in the last 24 hours and put the total number on a non vb page. If possible I would really like to be able to change when the 24 hours restarts.

I only want threads, I don't want posts. And I would like to track multiple forums, but not all.

If somebody could help me with this simple hack I would very much appreciate it.
